All these tracks sound really overproduced and really busy. I understand they were working with unfinished tracks...but some of these songs are just distracting in their composition.

Gotta give props to Sony though for releasing the original tracks. I really enjoy Xscape as it is, it's a really great album put together by really talented producers, but I would honestly prefer the original "Xscape" and "A Place with No Name" to their Xscape counterparts.

I like the original versions a lot more in some instances. However; I can't help but imagine Michael is rolling over in his grave in regards to this album. MJ was a relentless perfectionist. He was known to re-record takes more than 20 times to get the perfect sound, and would end up scrapping truly excellent tracks (by radio standards) because they weren't quite up to his level of quality. It's why his records, despite some being more than 30 years old are timeless and still sound as fresh today as they did back then. Because he went out of his way to ensure every note, every snare, every vocal tick and lyric delivery were absolutely flawless. These tracks, while great in some ways...were done without Michael's input (obviously) and had he been alive today he likely would've never cleared these to be released, or at least would've had them sounding way different than this.

Interesting unrelated fact though: My friend's ex-fiance's dad was Frank DiLeo. Aka Michael Jackson's manager of many years. I didn't realize this until after Michael had passed. I was basically one man away from Michael and never realized it.
