Starting at 7pm (12 mins from now) I'm gonna play his music for several hours straight. You guys are welcome to join me.
Never really cared for him much, but this is pretty shocking and he meant a lot to a good number of people it would seem. He'll be missed. Edit: 22 minutes Derek, don't jump the gun
Michael Jackson moved music. He took it to the next level, and that's what this is all about. Yea, he was odd, and he had accusations that are unproven, but if it weren't for him, a lot of the music we all listen to today wouldn't exist. The shock and utter disbelief of Michael Jackson's death equals that of when Elvis Presley died.
I told my friend that this death is equal to Elvis's death in the 20th century. I'm playing the Thriller album now.
http://twitpic.com/8et2f So yeah, Perez, next time you get into a fight please don't try to act like anything that happens to you is unwarranted.
Lets not turn this into a Perez Hilton bashing thread. He doesn't deserve this much attention. Focus on MJ, not him.
yeah wow, before i went to bed i assumed it was one of those over-hyped pre-emptive assumptions that MJ was dead and today i wake up to news of his death...wow...i must say i really took him for granted, i somehow always assumed he had at least 20 more years left in him...but wow the man was the best showman of the 20th century...RIP MJ, you were like the 2nd coming of The King!
So it's now over 8 hours since the news of his death was confirmed..and I still can't wrap my head around it or believe that its true. I remember when the reports came out a few months ago that his health was deteriorating and his publicists/family vehemently denied it acting like he was in beautiful shape. Then he had the physical two months ago and passed it with flying colors, thus being deemed fit to tour. Some people wanted to see him fail, but I was rooting for him to succeed the entire time. I really felt the media had been terribly unfair to him over the years, and I was hoping to see a complete return to form. It never would've struck me that we'd be here discussing his death. It's tragic, a complete shame, a horrific realization of how death can come at any moment; and it pains me that we'll never get to see if Michael Jackson's comeback would've been a success, or if his new music would've broke into the mainstream again..much like Thriller did around 26 years ago. I just hope that in death he finally is recognized for the musical icon, philanthropist (he donated MAJOR AMOUNTS to charity), and musical inspiration that he was. Love him or hate him, the fact that the world has been brought to it's knees over this (including the internet which seems to have lagged tremendously around the announcement of his death) is a testament to the impact this man had on the world and the music industry. May he rest in peace and finally feel happy in death. R.I.P.
The news broke to me through an SMS from a friend. RIP Michael. You were a true legend. I'll also be listening to his songs later in the day, in memory of him.
