I'm not so sure. If it is a riddle, why the missing letters? Why spell out "The Catalyst" if there is a definitive answer to the "riddle"? It doesn't make sense to take away the letters unless "the catalyst" is a clue to the answer of the "riddle", which I suppose could be the case.
Well I think it's something about desesperation, because it says " God bless us every one " We said that when we're really fucked up (like now), so everythig abou nukes, time and loaded guns make sense.
Well the first part of the puzzle can be what are we suppose to FIND in the riddle and the next part would be to figure out what it IS The previous puzzle wasn't just a one part thing. We had to find out what the binary meant, and then we had to translate that into a coherent message. Then we had to find the missing words. With this, You find out what you're missing, you're missing what your missing is the outcome, and then you're missing what the outcome is talking about. Which is time. The catalyst is time. haha.
Time is always moving though, not waiting. The Sun is something we can't outfight, outdo, outmatch or outrun, though. We live under it, and eventually it's gonna destroy the world when it expands (loaded gun). "Close my eyes tonight, to symphonies of blinding light" - Stars, beyond counting (or just "A Thousand Suns" to be peotic). "Far from the world of you and I" - Stars are a loooong way away. "Where oceans bleed into the sky" - Sunrise on the ocean? Stars reflected in the ocean/lake?
That is one of many possibilities. A problem is that your interpretation of it can have many possibilities but you drew just one conclusion. I wouldn't consider answers like that until we've been stuck for ages. Anyway, other possibilities: if the grammatical error counts: "at hecatalysat" anagrams to "A Heat Catalyst" If "t hecatal ys t" is intended to be broken up into spaces like this, then perhaps the spaces are intended to be taken metaphorically. ie. The people are broken. "The catalyst" is broken up by spaces. thus, the people are the catalyst.
The part on Mike's blog where he says "It's a good one" is throwing me off. Does he mean good as in clever and there's more to it than meets the eye? Or is it a good one because we gain access to the first piece of lyrics from the album? Who knows.
Or could the catalyst be inevitable nuclear war? Think about the dooms day clock and how Time is running out. That relates to both a thousand suns, and the catalyst. Just my thought.
I agree with you. Maybe it's referring to the oil spill? I know that The Little Things Give You Away, No More Sorrow, and Hands Held High were about things happening in the world, so it wouldn't be surprising if there were more songs about world events.
Well, war is what he seems to be describing or any situation of violence. and then there's catalyst, so what starts these things? human, tyrants, weapons, greed, etc. ???
Everyone's interpretations of the lyrics (what else would they be?) seem pretty dead-on. But what about the "puzzle"? If it was just catalyst, they would've said something by now. Or maybe they just haven't checked their computers yet, and catalyst is right. Who knows...?
