Linkin Park make their long-awaited return to Europe this Friday May 30th when they headline the Rock In Rio festival in Lisbon, Portugal. They join celebrated acts such as The Rolling Stones, Arcade Fire and Justin Timberlake as headliners of this diverse festival which also features the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age, Ed Sheeran, Lorde and many more over the 5 day event. It will be the first time in almost two years that the band have played before a European audience and the band's third time at the Rock in Rio Festival with their latest outing being May 26th, 2012 and the time before being June 6th, 2008. Linkin Park have of course played Portugal many times with their first show being September 9th, 2003 at Pavilhão Atlântico. The band's return to the live stage at KMFA Day 2014 was certainly an eventful one in which we saw the live debuts of three tracks from the upcoming album 'The Hunting Party'. 'Guilty All The Same' (featuring Mike rapping Rakim's verse), 'Until It's Gone' and the never-before-heard 'Wastelands' were all played before a very lucky Tuscon, Arizona audience. The show was definitely different from anything fans have seen before, with a combination of medleys and transitions that seemingly incorporated the partial playback of 'Robot Boy', taken off the band's 2010 album A Thousand Suns, as well as a brand new rap medley that featured mash ups of 'Wretches & Kings', 'Skin To Bone' (Recharged) and Fort Minor's 'Remember The Name'. The band also switched their focus to a lot of their older material from 'Hybrid Theory', with partial performances of 'Runaway' and 'Crawling' being played, perhaps in anticipation for their upcoming Download Festival appearance where 'Hybrid Theory' will be played in full. So what can we expect from the band when they hit up Lisbon? Potentially the same setlist, but anything could happen. Expecting more The Hunting Party tracks might be a stretch with only nine shows lined up for this stint. It is also worth noting that a certain collaborator, Steve Aoki, will also be playing the festival, could we perhaps see another live performance of A Light That Never Comes in LP's or Steve's set? Given the diversity and intensity of the band's return to the live stage, it's safe to say that the band are in a place where they want to mix things up a bit and spring a few pleasant surprises! It should definitely be an exciting set if it's anything similar to their last show, which seemed to provide a full Linkin Park experience. On that note we're pleased to say that this show will be aired on TV in Portugal! TV Station Sic Radical have confirmed via Facebook they'll be airing Linkin Park's set along with Rock in Rio in it's entirety beginning at 4:30PM local time. Linkin Park's show will begin at 10:30PM (Western Europe Summer Time). A pro-shot recording will definitely be available at some point once the show has aired, no doubt, much like Linkin Park's other Rock in Rio live shows. Yes I am going for the 3rd time! Can't wait, I just hope it's as good as it was on 2012, that was the best concert I've ever seen at RiR. The crowd and the band were fantastic. #EXCITED
I've been on there, but nothing seems to be streamable. Wouldn't tonight's show be streaming if that was the case? It looks like a site for uploading videos rather than streaming unless I'm missing something?
Yeah, we'll be posting any unofficial TV streaming links in the post tomorrow before the show starts.
Looking forward to tomorrow. I was slightly irritated because the first sentence in the news talks about June 30th ^^
It's Froday at 2:30 PST for me will be watching and maybe commenting on LPA as well on mobile! It'll be fun!
I'm excited for this! Hoping for another premiere, and a pro-shot of Wastelands and Guilty All the Same.
