Update June 2nd: An alternate Swedish Blu-ray and DVD listing has been found via ginza.se and discshop.se, which features a different cover and what we assume is placeholder date of July 30th, as we have have been told that there are no current plans for The Mall to get a release any time soon. It's a very odd situation as the retail listings and trailer both appeared on May 28th, but we're told there's actually no plans to release, so I guess we'll see what happens. The movie will feature music by Chester Bennington, Joe Hahn, Mike Shinoda and Phoenix of Linkin Park as well as Alec Puro, a composer, musician involved with features such as The Art of Getting By, Higher Ground and Like Water. He is also the drummer of the band Deadsy. The trailer features a glimpse at the OST for the movie, with Mike Shinoda providing the vocals. We can confirm that this is not a song from The Hunting Party and is most likely from the OST of the film. The movie follows five people centred around a mall, though the official synopsis isn't in English just yet, Google can partly translate it to "Malcom's done with his life. Only the noise of Crystal Meth gives him a reason to keep going - everything else it has long regardless. Equipped with a bag full of weapons and self-made bombs, he makes his way to the nearby mall to really stir things up. On his personal war campaign, he not only changes his life radically, but also the fate of other people who are in the wrong place at the same time: a teenager whose favorite pastime is smoking pot in his dreary existence, a housewife, where their best days have been left behind, a greedy businessman whose only desire is to increase his wealth and a depressed pervert". A day after the North American release of Linkin Park's new album The Hunting Party. We'll keep this updated with any more details on the OST or movie release. While everyone is talking about the OST, let me talk about the movie. It looks pretty good! Dark and mysterious, plus thankfully the trailer didn't give away the plot. And I love that cast. Cameron Monaghan is an amazing actor. Plus Peter Stormare and D'Onofrio. I didn't have any expectations before, but this film could actually be amazing. Excited. Also on a sidenote, I love that song.
The movie looks promising, could actually be interesting! Also, that song sounds AWESOME! This is what I want Linkin Park to sound like, maybe this is what those "soft indie demos" Mike made before THP sounded like?
