It's so different from The Catalyst. What a jump from the first demo to ATS

No rapping, but some very nice vocals by Chester. Love the harmonies during the bridge too.

I think the bridge to Pretend To Be may be done by Mike but that's off topic.

Blackout seems like it has potential.

"Pretend to Be" is alright. I wouldn't describe it amazing like some on here, but it's a decent song.

You can buy the $60 package with a dedicated ticket to the LA show, however you have to be certain that you can make it. As ordering it with the ticket and not going will hinder future chances of special shows. So yeah, go ahead and order the $60 option with the guaranteed ticket.

Another LP demo that bores me to death. Honestly, I can see this song being played in an elevator.

I was pleasantly surprised by "Pretend To Be". Not too shabby at all.

Pretend to Be grew on me after a few plays. it definitely sounds different to some degree with the guitars, but I see why they didnt put it onto ATS, since it still sounds like typical linkin park to some degree.

Here's what I can make out from the lyrics:

    Pretend To Be

you say that you're proud of me,
    oh
when you take something out of me,
    so predictable
why do i have to see this through?
why do i have to take this?
isn't there something i can do to make myself finally say this

no, you've taken this too far
    exposing who you are
    for all to see
you're not the one that you pretend to be

    you stuck with apologies,
    oh
then take another shot at me
    so predictable
why do i have to see this through?
why do i have to take this?
isn't there something i can do to make myself finally say this

no, you've taken this too far
    exposing who you are
    for all to see
you're not the one that you pretend (this?)
no, you've taken this too far
    exposing who you are
    for all to see
you're not the one that you pretend to be

    oh

no, you've taken this too far
    exposing who you are
    for all to see
you're not the one that you pretend (this?)
no, you've taken this too far

"pretend to be" is not bad. I like the instrumental part near the end of the song and the vocals sound pleasant

I really like this song. It's very alternative rock in my opinion. I'm very excited to have the new sounds A Thousand Suns will bring, but it's always nice to hear traditional music coming from Linkin Park as well.

As far as their recently released demos and such go, I would say this ranks pretty high for me. I definitely like it better than Blackbirds and Not Alone, but I'm not sure if I like it as much as Across The Line. Regardless, great new song to help the wait until September 14th.

Honestly, I think "Across the Line" is better than "Pretend to Be". It's edgier and the guitar part is heavier. But I love Chester's singing in "Pretend to Be"

Ok, just wanted to address this again because I know a lot of you are upset. I totally understand. Here are my thoughts:

This isn't an "Online-Only" membership. It's not that same old $15 membership that gave you access to a fanclub website most of you rarely use anyway. We've found that the majority of fans join LPU for two reasons... pre-sale tickets, and the opportunity to meet the band. If the ONLY reason you want to be a part of LPU is for pre-sales, we just made the option cheaper for you. It's now $10 to join for a month, you can buy your pre-sale tickets, and you don't ever have to log in again. If you're only reason for joining LPU is to meet the band, we just made your chances a little better. $10 monthly members won't have access to meet and greets or special LPU events and enhanced concert experiences (more coming on that later). Yes, it's more expensive. But that means the pool will be smaller so those of you who do decide to join for an annual membership will have a better shot at meeting the band and taking part in the other opportunities I touched on.

Forget this idea that it's a more expensive online-only membership. It's not. How many of you log in to LPU just for exclusive content anymore? None, because the content ISN'T exclusive anymore. It can't be. There's not point in pretending it is and charging you for it.

No, these memberships do not come with package items. Reading through messageboards from the last few launches of LPU, it seems a waste to put time and energy into trying to create and annual package that doesn't please everyone. Our resources are better spent making the experience better, and that's what we're doing.

Again, I understand why many of you are upset. But the band is confident this really will improve your experience with the LPU.

I'm looking forward to revealing some of the cool things we're working on, and I hope you'll be excited as I am.
