One of the most lauded submissions we've received as of yet comes from forum member DaveCNewton, who describes his mix as an effort to "add some raw hard rock back to the LP sound". The clip features a scorching guitar solo that is sure to make you listen twice. Better yet, this isn't even the final version!

UPDATE: Final version ready for listening!

Guys at LPA, i can't thank you enough for the front page feature, I never thought that I'd get such positive responses and also the pointers from forum members on what direction to make mix in for the second version!

I thank you again for listening to my submission, and i do hope the interest stays alive as i expect the second version will be in the forums within the next 3 to 4 days!

    Cheers guys,
    Dave

Hope I don't get fucked for being honest, but here it goes. I don't like Dave Newton's remix, cause it sounds so similar to other remixes which I think don't have potential. I think I've found a real remix which I think should be the winner if this guy doesn't f*** it up. Staff edit: This is not the place to spam other entries

A strong remix. BTW, still not finish.

You should probably go ahead and (1) admit you're Mondreus, (2) admit you didn't listen to the mix, and (3) admit you're just shamelessly promoting your own song, because the notion of numerous "similar" ones being out there that incorporate both acoustic guitars AND shredding electric guitars is simply not realistic.

I haven't heard anything that sounds like Dave's remix. His is honestly the most original I've heard thus far, and it's much better than anything out there.

Wow, this is sick!!! Before I heard this, I wasn't really sure I would like "The Catalyst"...but now I definitely see how awesome the song can be with some power chords and stuff! Great job!

One of the most original remixes I've heard. That doesn't necessarily mean I like it though. I like what you did with the stems, but the guitar solo came out of nowhere and doesn't FEEL like it belongs in the song. If you have a guitar throughout playing at a least a melody, you can base the solo on the melody and it'll be more...congruous.

Besides that, your skill is fantastic, much better than anything I can do.

This one is simply great. That's the only way to really describe it. You're very talented at the guitar, my friend.

This competition will be a fun one, for sure. :)

Dave, as a suggestion, you could involve the loud vocal harmonies and the guitar solo together in a cannon like way to make it more melodic and less abrupt.

Me likie this one. One of the best so far - wonder what MikeSh. thinks of it?
