Yes and no, i do agree that quality matters but, what is quality if 2 people with nice mixing skills etc enter out from like 5. i mean... its a 1 to 5 chance to win, and there is no real... feeling - such as rivaly, competition and adrenaline. When the MMU started off or what very young, there were so many and i was like thinking "oh hopefully i am one in the runner ups" because there were like 20 entries or more. Now its more like, "okay there is a nice chance to be in the list, hm" because there ARE in fact less entries. I don't say, quality is useless but the amount of people makes it to a nice competition. I do agree - a free for all month could bring more people hopefully
That was my suggestion originally, we should really gauge on the community's various tastes and base the MMUs on that rather than throwing a random theme not many people would connect with. And rather than having people select from a list of themes, they should be allowed to suggest genres of their own (and even multi-genres, to which they can post example songs to illustrate them). Maybe we could have a thread to compile this list, with votes opening shortly after a good amount themes have been suggested by a sufficient number of people. Also I think we can approach introducing new themes a bit differently: Say we get a popular vote for drum and bass next month, we could then branch that off into chillstep/trap for the month after that, then into more experimental themes when people find those more approachable. Or we could have themes that expand upon popular ones. We had dubstep last month, we could specify melodic dubstep instead, such as this: This has a nice atmosphere and is quite immersive, not in very unfamiliar territory either. Such ideas can motivate people to expand their musical skill-set and repertoire, driving some really creative and interesting results
Well, since i lost the original project file and had less time on my hand i decided to use the Synth which was intended for Petrified.Anyway, i'm happy that you liked the Synth.
Just as a heads up, we probably aren't going to be picking or declaring a winner for this month. When the entries only total 2-3 total at best it's really not worthy of our time to debate over who should be crowned a winner, when there's really not that many to listen to in the first place. So as of right now, consider yourself all honorary winners by default. I know that this theme was 'too different' and didn't motivate the remix community enough, and I'll accept that. But if next month's theme (which is far far more accessible and actually comes from an LPAer) receives this bad a turn out, we'll likely be discontinuing the MMU for a short while until fan interest returns to the competition.
Here we go, could've probably need another month to finish this... In My Remains: Even if this may not count, I think there should be more themes like this...Dubstep is for pussies! Edit: I had to reupload it due to the odd quality.
Its really disappointing that a month is ending like this.Agree with Cypher that a free for all month can bring back the enthusiasm.
That was pretty cool so far. But agree. Nothing against Dubstep months, we know we have talanted members here, but such things make the whole thing more interesting imo.
All entries count till the contest ends at April 30th 11:59PM EST. If we have a sudden surge in entries we'll judge, but right now it seems 'all winners by default' will be the way to go.
For some reason the SoundCloud widgets refuse to work for me, so I have to go search for things. https://soundcloud.com/black_sky/linkin-park-in-my-remains-blackskyaudio-remix-demo Is this Mr. Pool's remix? If it is, I really liked it.
