I like this song. I wish I could say the same about the album cover. Also, tracklist according to Wikipedia:
A few things I'm going to comment on: 1. The album art is a disgrace. What the fuck were they thinking? 2. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THEIR HEAVY ALBUM!?!? "We're gonna go back to our roots and not make shit music. Oh wait, we're gonna carry on being a pop band. Sorry guys." With that said, I'll probably still like the new album.
I agree with you about the album cover. But in fairness they've released only two songs of eleven so far, and they're the lead singles at that. Besides that they've played only a couple of other songs from the album, and among those you have Atrocity and Destroyer which both fit that description. But yeah at the end of the day I don't care which way they go as long as they do it well. I mean, I think Where We Belong is a good song and probably better than anything from this album that they've released/played so far, and that's almost as poppy and catchy as they've ever been.
They probably aren't that relevant now but I don't know about them losing integrity. If I'm not mistaken this wouldn't be the first time they've said things about their albums without necessarily delivering, and I think if they'd compromised that much we'd have had this album much earlier.
I think they lost integrity round about when they made Start Something, and especially after Liberation Transmission. Hell, they even said they made that album to get airplay and whatever. Edit: This is what lostprophets should be: Not just complete soft rock/pop music.
Well yeah but they've never denied that they were influenced by pop music to some degree, so, when you look at it on that basic level, while it might not necessarily be good they're entitled to make poppier music. Not to mention that some of their earliest songs that you can find (as in, before TFSOP) actually sound closer to their last two albums. And again, it's not as though the new album will be full of softer songs if these are anything to go by:
ok, taking the three songs (end of the world, where we belong, destroyer) into consideration their new album won't be anywhere near album of the year. stepped down my expectations from "holy fuck that's gonna rock" to "maybe i'll get a few good songs out of it".
I'm not really digging what I'm hearing so far but something I've learnt this year in particular is we can't judge an album based on previews. The songs they've released might actually be the weakest. One thing I will say though is that I can't believe this is the same band that released thefakesoundofprogress.
The final cover of the album will be : So far, I like Dstryr Dstryr, and End of the World. Where We Belong is a ok song. Hopefully the rest is better.

The band have posted two new songs on their myspace, one being an 8+ minute instrumental. I quite like them both. Better than anything I've heard off the album so far.
Sunshine just sounds like an inferior version of AC Ricochet to me. I haven't listened to all of the instrumental.
