A statement posted on Linkin Park's official site announces that Linkin Park plan to release a new album called "RECHARGED" later this year! It seems that the album will consist largely of "reinterpretations" of songs from the band's 2012 studio album "LIVING THINGS", but it will also include at least one new song: Linkin Park's upcoming single "A Light That Never Comes", a track which was produced in collaboration with Steve Aoki and which is currently being used to promote the band's new Facebook game, "LP Recharge". Whether or not the "LIVING THINGS" remixes are ones which have previously been released is not yet known. According to the announcement, "RECHARGED" will be released late next month on October 29. It will be available on CD, digital and vinyl formats, while a limited edition will include extras such as a 48-page art booklet and an "interactive sculpture". The album will be made available for pre-order on September 16 through linkinpark.com, but fans won't be able to pre-order from iTunes or other digital retailers until "A Light That Never Comes" is unlocked by players within "LP Recharge". Once unlocked, the song will also be made available for streaming on XBOX Music. During the last few months, there have been occasional hints pointing to Linkin Park collaborating with other artists; Steve Aoki revealed that his sessions with the band yielded more than just one song, and DJ Fresh also mentioned in an interview that he had worked with Linkin Park. Much prior to that, there were also rumours of a collaboration between Linkin Park member Mike Shinoda and Swedish house producer Avicii. Will these artists appear on "RECHARGED"? linkinpark.com has the same message, and it's probably a better source. Like, this photo might get removed. You could change that. Tech N9ne, Avicii, Steve Aoki and DJ Fresh are on this album. I'm calling it right now.
HFS. Please, let this be another Reanimation. That album is still in my top 10 albums ever recorded. Fantastic news! That'd be amazing!
Would love to hear remixes from all the albums post Meteora to be honest. Not just LT. Also, they could've chosen a better title.
Holy shit. If this is anything like Reanimation, that'd be pretty dope. That said, it might just be a release of the remixes from the LT pre-order.
Hope they go for a groundish raw style Reanimation. All the dark and new sounds! Not just the next house/Techo/Dubstep remix after the other. Let's just hope that Mike's better part of taste in music plays a huge part in this record.
Definitely. It's plausible, Tech N9ne wrote a verse for LP a long while ago, we don't know what happened to that, Steve Aoki is said to have written "4 or 5 songs" with LP so one or two might be in it, DJ Fresh claims to have worked with LP. I hope this is it. Yep. I really hope it's not a release of the LTR Tracks, but this is probably the best opportunity to compile the work the guys who have worked with LP to release the stuff they've been talking about.
To be honest, I don't think this will be Reanimation 2.0. Reanimation was pretty awesome, but I'm really sceptical about this new release. Don't you guys worry that a remix album will delay a real new album with brand new songs about one or two years? I don't believe they will release a new album next year, if they are going to release the remix album at the end of this october.
RECHARGED sounds fine for an album title.. it reminds me of Reanimation.. So A LIGHT THAT NEVER COMES confirmed as the lead single, right??
The worst part was knowing about this album and it's title back when the DJ Fresh news post came out and not being able to post it because we had no proof apart from hearsay. Damnit.
Jeez. If the Recharged album is due in October, it is most likely it has been done and dusted for a while now and it's currently on the way to be mass produced. Besides the band has been working on the new album as well with Rick. I think it's unrealistic to call for an early 2014 release but maybe mid 2014 or Q3.
After "Living Things: Remixed" last year, I think a bit of skepticism is completely justified. This, the Facebook game, the film soundtrack and Chester's run with Stone Temple Pilots make up the obligatory side-project phase that Linkin Park usually go through between album cycles. They tend to work on new music for a studio album simultaneously. From what we've seen before, we can safely assume that the delay won't be major and, in any case, we're getting more new music from the band.
still this year we got RECHARGED and LPU 13... then next year, The Mall, Transformers 4 (maybe), LP6 & LPU 14... Cool..
