Ay, let's hope they do. Just by listening to GATS it sounds much more like their live performances, and a bit less overly produced. It reminds me a bit of Given Up in terms of rawness and sounds like it'll translate just fine live. But I haven't heard the album as a whole, so can't really say if it will until it's out.
I cant find the hunting party on any other Itunes websites. Could some post a link to a country with the pre-order? or did what he say was false?
Found it! https://itunes.apple.com/de/album/guilty-all-same-feat.-rakim/id868341278?i=868341313&ign-mpt=uo=4 I found it right as you posted it. Thank you anyways UIG should be coming tonight then if its true that you get it with pre-order!
You know what? After this album, I wouldn't mind at all if LP erased ALL their heavy elements for at least a record, and for example went overly experimental Blockhead- Radiohead -Massive Attack kind of stuff. This is something I'd never have said if they hadn't chosen to head forward a heavier direction this time. But now that they are actually paying homage to their rawest influences, and that they're showing everyone that the hardcore punk/metal scene is still a part of their identity, and that they haven't just become a nice little mellow band, I feel like my thirst for heavier LP stuff will eventually be satisfied
For those of you who asked and didn't get an answer, Joe did not get to hear the songs. As has been said, Derek had the opportunity to hear the songs as a member of the press.
Wow Derek! I've never been more jealous of someone! But great stuff. Great article and I'm even more pumped for the album. Until It's Gone seems amazing.
We still don't know yet about how long this album cycle will be.. from the recent interview with Chester, he said: So this impressed me a lot because it is close to A Thousand Suns Album cycle era unlike LIVING THINGS era had Honda Civic Tour together with Incubus which the album cycle was a little bit short.. maybe you're right if the band will have to go for a new route for LP7.
When I see complaints about the lyrical quality or specific musical/playing technique in advance of the actual release of a song, I can't help but think that music's impact has very little to do with the ingredients themselves and everything to do with the context of those ingredients. The simplest things have the potential to be very clever, deep, or impactful in the right context. The most complex and thoughtfully-crafted things could, conversely, feel very out of place in the wrong context. At its core, I feel that music should be felt more than heard.. experienced emotionally rather than considered intellectually.
This sounds so cool. Can't wait to actually hear all these songs! It defiantly feels like a more focused record, like they had a certain mindset making these songs. I love how they just took people in from other bands, that really shows that they are taking this record seriously but is having fun while doing it. And the big shocker is that this is only half of the songs, we have no idea how the rest will sound like! Thanks Derek! BTW: I wonder why there is no description about Guitar solos. I mean Brad literally said that he felt like every track had one(that is obviously an overstatement)
There were solos but imo they more 'added to the song' and felt like a natural progression, rather then be semi superflous like some of the solos in GATS. That's why I didn't comment on them much in my review. They were a step up for Brad compared to prior albums...just not 'in your face'.
