Wishful thinking on my part I suppose.. It still could be within the realm of possibility though! While I did use Numb for a comparison in my previous post, Numb really isn't 'HEAVY' heavy, it packs a lot of punch and something similar wouldn't be out of reach IMO.
See, I'm in a bind here and it was tough to write the review on it. Because if I compare it too much to any song from Meteora, it's going to cloud people's judgement of it unfairly. UIG is probably the closest to the old Linkin Park sound on this record, but at the same time the track feels "different". There's elements in there that you would've never heard on Hybrid Theory, and there's certainly a lot more going on in it than songs made back then. It's kinda like an evolution of the old sound. You'll see. Can't really say more.
That's the kind of vibe I was getting. Thank you for replying to my comment! My theory is that there may have been pressure from Warner to make a big hit like this given how 'un-radio' this new album is being promoted. The only way I see how Linkin Park could have made a radio-friendly song while keeping the album's integrity in tact is to go back to it's 'heavy' roots with a twist of everything they've learnt to date, that way it's not just a cheap rehash of that sound.
The funny thing is, UIG isn't the track the Warner head produced. That was Rebellion (i think?) and that track is probably one of the least radio friendly tracks on the album.
That is pretty funny come to think of it.. I think it was wastelands that rob produced? not sure *goes and checks*
Yep, Rob produced Wastelands! Perhaps Wastelands was written earlier in the creative process before the album turned out the way it did (anti-radio).
Definitely can feel Cavallo's influence on that track. In a good way. And that track certainly isn't radio friendly.
I know that he worked on My Chemical Romance's 'The Black Parade' which is one of my all time favourite albums. Also think he worked with Paramore & Goo Goo Dolls, two other bands I love.. pretty excited to hear this track.
Derek, you sai UIG reminds ATs vibe. And that think got me really hyped. Dose chaster and mike do harmonise together? Chester reaching high notes? Im just dying to hear the next single
All the questions about UIG feel like people asking for spoilers in a book. Why don't you settle with the info we were given and just patiently wait for the song? It's not that far anyway.
+1. Derek is an insider. He even said earlier in the week not to expect it in the next few days.... TELL US WHAT YOU KNOW!
Yeah I agree. Enough with the questions about the song. Save some suspense for when the song does release.
