Keep in mind Linkin Park were not, at any time, a particularly heavy band. I personally see it as less of Mike and Co were "afraid to go full force punk/trash" and more like this is a Linkin Park flavor of punk or thrash. Nothing before this album suggested they had any ability to do that kind of music in the first place, so this is their interpretation of it.
I've just learned, DON'T EVER listen to an album with only one earphone on like I did Now listening full on my lunch break.
I'm still listening to War, but I'm feeling totally what-the-fucked. It's like I'm not listening to LP. I'm being punched in my ears. What the fuck am I listening to? They're making me crazy!!! Now, seriously, it's good to hear something different and this heavy from them, but it isn't really new in the rock music. Too many influences, but nothing new. It's certain the songs released previously are the most Linkin Park-ish and the ones I can listen day to day. The others are cool, but not the music I will listen everyday. But hey, Mark The Graves, Drawbar and ALITS still to listen here.
To my ears this album is the heaviest i've ever heard from Linkin Park, And I don't know if I like that, I guess I'm more of a ballad/little heavier type of linkin park fan.
That's what people say about Living Things. I don't feel that strongly about listening to the album just yet, I may just wait until release day. Maybe. Possibly.
After listening to the full album all I have to say is The Hunting Party>Hybrid Theory. (Come at me bro!)
I wish I could say that I love THP, but unfortunately I don't. This might be the first LP record that I don't think I'll ever be able to fully enjoy (a case could be made for Meteora ). Some of the songs are just really not the type of music I like to listen too (KTTK for example). For now I like about half the album, hopefully some of it will still grow on me. But the great thing about LP is, is that their next album could be completely different. So hopefully I'll like the next one better. I'm glad a lot of you seem to enjoy it though
If any old school LP fan bitches about this album I will slap them silly this album is the closest thing to Hybrid Theory.
Keys to the Kingdom lyrics so far, someone help me decypher the rest No control No surprise Drop the keys to the kingdom down the hole in my eye I'm my own casuality I've fucked up every thing I say Fighting in futility The final war Tell me what's worth fighting for When we know there's nothing more Take the high... Just to sell ourselves for this The path we least resist No control No surprise Drop the keys to the kingdom down the hole in my eye I'm my own casuality I've fucked up every thing I say Fighting in futility I give you what you came for This is not the same though Got a different method but I still could bring the pain so ... ... never really in my range though All you fucking lames go ... on my name no Careful what you shoot because you might hit what you aim for Careful what you shoot because you might hit what you aim for No control No surprise Drop the keys to the kingdom down the hole in my eye I'm my own casuality I've fucked up every thing I say Fighting in futility No control No surprise Drop the keys to the kingdom down the hole in my eye I'm my own casuality I'm my own casuality Jizz spurts out of my dick when Chester half-screams the "Waaaaaaaaaargh" before the first proper chorus!!!!
I think I would have preferred ALITS more if it was only Mike singing/rapping. I just felt Chester wasn't needed for that song but that's only my opinion of course! It was a good song to end the album, definitely need to hear this and Mark the Graves in high quality. All in all its a solid album, definitely the best they have done in a long time. But still Minutes to Midnight is my favourite album, THP is level with Hybrid Theory at the moment, I'll probably alter the order after a couple of months of listening to it and see if it deserves to go into 2nd spot. But yeah its much better than LT and I'm glad I preordered it, overall I'd give it an 8.5/10. After I hear the full quality version I'll probably assess my score again!
I really gotta say from an old school fan, after being extremely disappointed with their last two albums this is fucking INCREDIBLE. Literally everything I could have asked for, epic and HEAVY as fuck! I love every song but I think rebellion has to be my favorite. Linkin Park is like that girl who keeps fucking you over but time after time you keep taking her back...only to be let down again. Not with this album. Well done lp. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for future albums. My score 9/10
Loved MTG. I knew it would be one of the highlights of this album. Drawbar is a cool instrumental too. Only ALITS to listen now.
