Am I the only one laughing like a mad person because I can't comprehend what I just heard? xD My favorites after one listen: Keys To The Kingdom (WOW) All For Nothing (the 1,2,3,4 was so unexpected from a LP song. I'm sure Mike will sing Page's portion. Their voices match in many ways) Mark The Graves (Just for how interesting it is) Drawbar (Very nice instrumental. Kinda sad in its tone) Final Masquerade A Line in the sand (My Favorite from what I just heard. Just WOW)
This album is all over the place...sadly Final Masquerade is the best song. There is some interesting stuff here, but I was not blown away by it.
I like it, but I have a feeling in a few months or so, most of you guys will have a significantly different final score for the album. The thrill of finally having LP be a competent rock band I think is exciting everyone. A solid listen, very good, very consistent. Maybe, 7, 7.5 out of 10 for me.
I've done my best to transcribe the epic finale of The Hunting Party A LINE IN THE SAND ----------------------------- Today we stood on the wall. We laughed at the sun. We laughed at the guns. We laughed at it all. And when they, they told us to go, we paid them no mind, like every other time. But little did we know. Today, I look for a sign with flames in my hands, a line in the sand. Between yours and mine. And it came like fire from below, your queen never called My plaque had to fall, but little did you know Another day, your truth will come You're gonna pay for what you Pay for what you've done You'll get what's yours And face your crime Kneel down and give me back what's mine Give me back what's mine I have never been a coward I have never seen blood You had sold me an ocean And I was lost in the flood We were counting on a leader When we were driven by need I couldn't take temptation And we were blooded by greed You were standing as a sniper We were standing on a wire So we never saw it coming When you ran from the fire You can try intimidation You can try to ignore it But when the time comes calling Yeah, you are going to get yours Another day, your truth will come You're gonna pay for what you Pay for what you've done You'll get what's yours And face your crime Kneel down and give me back what's mine Give me back what's mine And so today, your truth will come You're gonna pay for what you Pay for what you've done You'll get what's yours You're out of time And you will give me back what's mine Give me back what's mine Give me... Give me back what's mine Give me... Give me back what's mine What's mine... Give me. Give me back what's mine What's mine What's mine What's mine Give me back what's mine Oh, we stood on the wall. We laughed at the sun. We laughed at the guns. We laughed at it all. And when they, they told us to go, we paid them no mind, like every other time. But little did we know.
If I was Mike I would be so upset people are listening to this. Not BC of the leak but BC people are hearing a shitty rip of something he just put everything into. Could never understand why people who rip albums do it in 192kbps and lower
This album was a lot softer than I expected it to be. I thought it would be heavy like Refused and Inside Out. The vocals on the majority of songs are really soft and mellow. I was not expecting that at all. Musically it's heavier than the last 3 albums but vocally this is the softest album yet. The vocals were really laid back and mellow and made Mike and Chester sound old. They sound like they are in their 50s, tired and bored. My favorite song would have to be Rebellion as that is the only song that had the "aggression", "ferocity", and "high energy" that Mike had been talking about. It sounded like Linkin Park were afraid to go all the way with the hardcore punk/thrash sound that they mentioned. Mike was probably afraid to alienate a lot of fans and decided to play it safe by toning down the heavy stuff and keeping a lot of the electronic and alternative pop elements in their music. To me this album sounds like a more rock oriented Living Things. Mike talked the talk but failed to walk the walk. The Hunting Party would have to be my least favorite album. Before anyone flames me, keep in mind that flaming me isn't going to convince me to suddenly like the album but feel free to try.
Also, MFR is currently helping here in Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia with the floods, and Mike sings ''I want a flood''… How dares he.
It is a blessing that most reviews and whatever the band said about the album flew right out of my head after I read them => no expectation for anything at all .
