And while we're talking pipe dreams, maybe they can resurrect Bowie and Lemmy and get them to do guest-spots and tour with them. I know my suggestion seems more reasonable but it's still a pipe dream.
Still hoping the band takes a bit more of a lo-fi route this time around. You can definitely do that and keep quality melodies and lyrics. Basically I hope not every sound on the record is polished to perfection.
Yass I like where you're going with this. Mike is a perfectionist, though, so hopefully he can surpass the need to make everything sound as crisp as possible. I suppose they've already done it with some tracks, though? StB, UIB, W&K, is that what you're aiming at? Those tracks are pretty messy.
This makes me very excited. If they can combine good lyrical content with the musicianship displayed on THP and ATS, then this will be the best LP album ever. But what if even after this approach, the lyrics still suck? :/
I can dig it. I'm hoping for some nice melodies on this album. This is probably the first Linkin Park album where I hope it's NOT heavy LOL. I'm 27 and I need more relaxing stuff music in my life.
This is something that concerns me a little. In the past, aspects of upcoming albums have been so hyped that, at the very least, expectations are overblown (or maybe reasonable based on the information, even) and a lot of us are left disappointed by the payoff
Unlike "visceral" and "energetic", I feel like "powerful" is a description not to be taken lightly. After falling in love with everything Thrice, I'm all for some superb lyrical content from LP.
I think in terms of whether people's expectations from the hype can even be closely matched by LP, will mostly depend on how far the band is actually willing to go out of their comfort zone this time. Given past releases everything they've made still 'sounds like LP', but if the collaborations happening are bringing the band to new territory on the very foundational level, hopefully this album will be an important step forward in their career.
Hell YES! Say what you will about LP's lyrics, but I've always loved most of them (except crawling and lies greed misery blah blah i always say this you get it by now ), and the fact that they're writing a lyrically driven album that focuses on melody is EXTREMELY exciting to me. Linkin Park has always been about the vocals and the lyrics for me. I couldn't be happier about this!!!! (....plus a melodic focus means the cheesy and overplayed rap will hopefully get dropped )
"It sounded like that acoustic shit you hear in coffee shops, we decided to push ourselves and see how far into the pop world we could go instead." I can imagine this being an instrumentally light album from them not finding sounds they find fitting after falling in love with the simple versions of these songs. However, I hope we get some full sounding songs, with great instrumentation (and great bass lines PLEASE). I'm expecting something with a lot of sonic range ala ATS, but probably not with all the interludes or lyrical cohesiveness. Something that feels part MTM 2 and part ATS 2.
