Linkin Park would be a lot better if Brad learned how to actually play his instrument.

Yeah, he isn't as technically adept as John Petrucci and most other prog/heavy metal guitarists that you can care to name, but he has a penchant for writing some catchy riffs that are simple yet effective, and they suit the rap-rock style of Linkin Park's music more often than not. So in that sense he is talented.

Didn't Brad himself say he thinks it's better to play something simply, but tastefully rather then try and "rip a fast solo"? I think he prefers to play something simpler because he thinks it sounds better, right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

And I can play My December on the piano.

To put Brad in his place, he does more creative stuff than some other nu-metal guitarists. i.e. the basic 3-chord formula that a lot of todays guitarists follow and reuse in lots of songs. Brad varies his riffs from song to song (Except for Faint, Figure.09, and From the Inside all being pretty similar in places), and he uses different parts within each song. But in all fairness, he's by far not the most talented guitarist out there, he's closer to the bottom than he is the top.

Anyway, I can play basically every LP song on guitar:

All of Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, Meteora, Collision Course
    Any live variations/intros Brad does
Songs that LP was featured in (It's Goin' Down, Rock and Roll Could Never Hip Hop Like This, System, most of those songs)
All the demos, EP songs, b-sides, and LPU-exclusive songs
    Any covers LP has played

On bass, I can play a lot of songs, and I could learn all of them pretty easily if I took the time to, but I'm really not a bass player normally.

On keyboard, I can play the intros to In the End, Crawling, the looping part in Enth e Nd, the backing parts in Frgt/10, all of Breaking the Habit (including the live intro), all of My December, and I'm working on Numb.

Yep, i agree totally with this saying.

If something that is slow and/or simple sounds better that something really fast and comfusing, go with it. Does anyone talk about Dave Farell Here?(aka Phoenix. theres no mention of him)

He does know how to play his instrument...so what are you going on a bout???????? If he didn't know how to play the guitar, what would linkin park be???????????????? OH!!!!!WHO JUST GOT CUT, WHO JUST GOT RIPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH YEA!!!!!!!!!!

The whole ripped and cut thing made me laugh pretty hard. Your 14 eh?

To the dave farrell thing, he may not suck, he's pretty confined to what he can write seeing that not only does Brad write sucky guitar riffs, doesn't he write some of the basslines too? Not sure...

Sorry to burst your brad bubble kid, but Cameron is right. Any one can pick up a guitar and play half the shit Brad writes. I don't fall for the bullshit about him talking about playing simpler riffs because they sound better than ripping a solo or whateverthefuck. He can come up with as many excuses as he wants, he sucks. It's a hard truth to swallow when your such a big lp fan, I know, I used to be young. But he sucks. If he wasn't part of the band, they'd have a better guitarist (I'd hope, it'd be hard to be less enthused about the instrument he plays)

And whoever said he's creative or talented or whatever because he can write simple riffs that go better with the rap/rock sound. No. What the hell? No. He'd be talented if he could write some more complex and constructed riffs that went better with the rap/rock hybrid.

Two words can sum up Brad Delson's playing.

    Power Chords.

    [sarcasm]
OH! WHO JUST GOT CUT, WHO JUST GOT RIPPED! OH YEA!
    [/sarcasm]

I hate to say it, but Linkin Park isn't tthat hard to play when compared to, say Mars Volta or Jane's Addiction.

Linkin Park is holding EVERYBODY back.

Look at Brad. Look at Mike. Joe, Chester, everyone is held back in some way or another by this band.

With the except of maybe Rob.
