If what was said about previous albums prior to release and how they actually turned out is any indication, it would be best to have as little expectations as possible for the next album. After all, those of us who aren't expecting anything in particular won't automatically be disappointed if what we thought we would hear isn't present on the album at all.
It's not impossible, but I feel like we would've heard something about it from the band. This song would just sort of come out of no where.
I've checked the two official places that leaked info about BID first, and I've checked the BMI Repertoire. Nothing. So unless this is literally a last minute decision for the band to release it this week, I'm doubting this will be the case. I mean yeah Chester did suddenly cancel all STP tour dates in February which leads credence to what that guy said, but wouldn't we have at least heard they're far along in the recording process instead of: "As most Linkin Park fans know, the sound of each album is usually quite different from the last. The new album is no exception. But as usual, the album’s sound twists and turns as it is created, so any attempt at estimating what it sounds like today would be silly. The moment I tell you it sounds like “X”, the songs will automatically take a drastic turn and evolve into something different within a week." in early February? Wouldn't Mike have known the direction of the album if the lead single was near completion? Just feels like this information is wrong.
As always, Derek articulates what I was trying to say so much more effectively. Well done, sir. New music is coming soon. Until we start hearing official word form Warner or the band, we have to assume everything else is false. The good news is that the hype is starting to hit radio stations. We're moving right along in the traditional LP pre-album process. -Vague statements about the sound? Check. -Assuming it's heavy? Check. -Headlining festivals? Check. -Radio DJs starting rumors? Check. All we need now is for LP's marketing team to put out some abstract puzzle that makes the international fan base to work together, and I'd say we're getting awfully close to some new music!
Maybe it will be just a teaser or like a 30 second clip of the new single, since the mixing is prob almost done I'm sure we will get the new single in March.
On note for what Derek said. Honestly, at this point, whenever the band members answer a question about the sound of the new record, I just assume everything they're saying is to purposely misdirect. The band definitely has a plan now. Even if the album comes out in the summer, they've still gotta have a plan by now. I believe they simply talk about how fast music changes to 1. avoid describing the sound of the album 2. to decrease rumors/expectations. It's definitely possible for the band to release a single around now because I expect the entire album early summer, not late. It would be unlike the band to just suddenly release the single without teasers so that's the only thing that has me doubting any of this.
