Billboard subscribers received a PDF file of currently set release dates from various record labels. Look what was on the list! November 18, 2008 Cher TBA Marc Anthony TBA Bon Jovi Greatest Hits Rod Stewart TBA Lenny Kravitz It Is Time For A Love Revolution (Re-Release) Phil Collins Greatest Hits Linkin Park Greatest Hits Looks like sometime before this year is over, Linkin Park will be releasing a greatest hits disc.
Sounds REALLY shady. First of all, VERY few artists confirm release dates over 10 months in advance. Secondly, there's no way 7 artists of that stature would have album release dates confirmed that far in advance. Finally, Billboard has proven itself to not be reliable before, they reported that Given Up was to be the second single off Minutes to Midnight before Bleed it Out, and even listed a release date, which obviously didn't happen. Can someone at least provide a link to this PDF? That would at least provide something tangible, regardless of how questionable it is.
No. There was something that was talked about in being released in September 2007. This is indeed confirmed. All artists confirm release dates. It is called a target date, aka their goal of completeion. Do you really think this stuff happens in a matter of a day? Any artist releasing a CD this year already has the goal date. The record will not allow recording without a date. That helps determine their budget. Billboard is very, very reliable. Given Up was indeed set to be a single, but it was changed. I don't see why people are getting worked up over that.
No, that's completely wrong. Given Up was NEVER set to be a single, Billboard was just wrong. If it was changed, why did the incorrect information stay on Billboard's website long after Bleed it Out had already been released as a single? Record labels do ask artists to establish target release dates, but they are always subject to change (see: Chinese Democracy, Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Night Castle, or even Minutes to Midnight), and are NEVER released to the public. A target time ("Fall 2008" or "3rd quarter 2008") may be mentioned tentatively, but I've NEVER heard of an artist releasing a specific target release date to the public before the final release date was absolutely confirmed. Billboard is nothing more than a magazine, you have to remember that. Yes, they make the most well-known music charts in the U.S., but that doesn't magically make them a fountain of always-correct information. Billboard is just as capable of being wrong as Rolling Stone, Kerrang, or any other magazine is. And furthermore, you still haven't provided a link to this .pdf, so for all intensive purposes, we don't even know if it actually exists or if it's just a completely fabricated rumor.
It seems to me this person added those other high-profile artists just to make it seem more legitimate, but in the process made it even more unbelievable.
Linkin park has already released a bunch of greatest hits albums Hybrid Theroy, Reanimation, Meteora, Collision Course, Minutes to Midnight and Live in Texas
I've found the list general posted on two other completely different sites, and included the LP GH album.
Why aren't we supplied with either a website confirming this information ( even calling it a rumor) would help, or supplied with the PDF? Maybe this would help ease our minds but this totally seems a bit...fake. Showing this news is better than just posting the text and not supplying a source we can see directly. Maybe this is true BUT how are we to know? We need something that shows this information. Wow... I sounded like my words were jammed together, sorry!
