There is an interesting sound in the bridge I love that one. And the piano at the end is really great. But coooome one . This was the first time in this album cycle that I like the sounds. Ats had a thousands of them The rest of the song is generic but I actually like it
That 2 second instrumental bridge sounded interesting, but nooooo, they need to sing throughout the whole song.
Lyrics: I've got an aching head Echoes and buzzing noises I know the words we said But wish I could've turned our voices down This is not black and white Only organize confusion I'm just trying to get it right And in spite of all I should've done I was not mad at you I was not trying to tear you down The words that I could've used I was too scared to say out loud If I cannot break your fall I'll pick you up right off the ground If you felt invisible, I won't let you feel that now Invisible You didn't get your way And it's an empty feeling You've got a lot to say And you just want to know you're being hurt But this is not black and white There are no clear solutions I'm just trying to get it right And in spite of all I should've done I was not mad at you I was not trying to tear you down The words that I could've used I was too scared to say out loud If I cannot break your fall I'll pick you up right off the ground If you felt invisible, I won't let you feel that now Invisible This is not black and white There are no clear solutions I'm just trying to get it right And in spite of all I should've done I was not mad at you I was not trying to tear you down The words that I could've used I was too scared to say out loud If I cannot break your fall I'll pick you up right off the ground If you felt invisible, I won't let you feel that now Invisible
I find the verses and prechorus to be gorgeous. Mike's singing is brilliant and fits it so well. The chorus and 'bridge' on the other hand just feel a little undercooked. Not too sure why. Just feels like it needed a bit more time to really push the song through to brilliance. Still really enjoyed it Can't wait to hear Mike sing live.
lol, I'm happy that the song didn't drag on at all, but yeah, there are some buried sounds and potential for cool instrumental moments in the song for sure that don't get utilized. I haven't listened to TTM or OML yet, but I hope somewhere on this album is a really nice instrumental moment.
Okay, maybe I own LP or whatever my apologies on that one This is MUCH better than I though. I guess my first impression with the live was biased. There is a lot of subtle stuff going on instrumentally, and the song almost feels nostalgic in a way. Lyrics are getting there. I can vibe to this. 7,5/10.
Really nice instrumentals going on. Good use of LFO's and envelope filters too. Wish the bridge was longer. Love the outro though!
This song makes me think about my kids and how hard it is to sometimes make time for them. It really hits home.
It's hilarious that since this song is meant to be beautiful and emotional how live Mike just shouts "YOU FEEL THAT SHIT!?" during the bridge
My first listen was "Eh, not for me." My 2nd listen "Wait, this is actually not bad" My 3rd listen "Oh wow, this is really good music. What was wrong with me 2 listens ago!?" *moving head to the music and loudly shouting along "Invisible" whenever it was mentioned in the song* Also, Mike's voice is what I want to hear when I'm on my death bed. So soothing. Also (again), there are a number of layers in the music which you only make out on multiple listens. Really enjoying the music in this. It all goes really well together. So now for me it's Invisible (slightly, possibly because its new) > Battle Symphony = Talking to myself(live) >>>> Good Goodbye(slightly) > Heavy
Yes I think Heavy was supposed to be a bigger hit than it seems to be panning out as, no that I don't think this song specifically is in response to that.
I feel like here, in LPA are the only fans who don't bitch about the new sound so much. And for the song...beautiful, with one of the most personal lyrics they wrote.
