False. In Seattle HT/M/MTM/ATS singles were played on both pop and rock radio. After Waiting For the End the radio stations here stopped playing Linkin Park.
I don't love the song, but it's a shame the reaction's been so negative (not on here, I expected that, hell, I'm one of them, but I mean on youtube etc.). The only difference between this and Burn It Down IMO is that the latter has rapping and gitarzz. I guess this one's a bigger shift in sound, but I don't feel BID's any less poppy. Totally. This song will be bashed by fans of HT/M for not being nu metal, it'll be bashed for fans of ATS for being too poppy, but at the end of the day most people are going to like this. Glad you had such a nice experience! Yeah, haha. Linkin Park have always been a poppy band. Although I think sasuke was taking the piss.
Just played this track to my mom (65 years old) who played Minutes To Midnight, A Thousand Suns and Living Things in her car constantly over the years. "THAT is seriously Linkin Park? No, sorry but that's unnacceptable.. I can totally understand the backlash. That's Justin Bieber." "Shameful. I won't be listening to that. They're done, they're out." And that's where I draw the line. That came from someone who enjoyed Katy Perry, Gaga.. Linkin Park done fucked up. I've been a fan since 2002, been to various tours and even met the guys.. learned the drums to LP songs and everything. R.I.P. There is no recovering from this shit for me.. this is the point where Mike shamefully went pop and the band is dead in my eyes.
The number of writers doesn't really mean anything. Six people, according to the credits, wrote "Numb", "Runaway", "Don't Stay", "Lies Greed Misery" ...
Lmao now you're using your MOTHER as a source? What's next? Think you need to go and ask your 83 year old neighbour across the street just to make sure everyone you know thinks it's shit.
He's desperately looking for validation. He used a YouTube comments screenshot some pages back. D E S P E R A T I O N
Just as my own anecdotal evidence, I played this for my dad (whose favourite band is Pink Floyd) and he liked it a lot (despite commenting on it's poppiness). Different strokes for different folks. Also, as a side note, Heavy already has more likes than GATS, despite having only 19% of the views. So despite it's like/dislike ratio, it's definitely gotten a far less apathetic reaction than GATS. Doesn't really mean anything, but just a fun little stat (for the record I adore GATS).
If said person can't sing then acoustic is a bad idea haha. But if they are good at what they do, I agree it's hard to go wrong with acoustic.
With the first bout of negativity, spreads hate. Hate grows faster than anything. For whatever reason: this song got picked up. It just happened to have been shared around, and for that? It's going viral. It's really not bad at all, not like what people are making it out to be. MTM had LOATR, and that was super poppy and unoriginal in my opinion (compared to all the bands out there). Powerless was also very poppy, so was UIG. There's a female lead and cheater isn't screaming in this and they both sound chill -- and the overall beat sounds really positive. That's the only difference I really see here than some of the past shit they've done. People never paid attention to their previous releases apparently.
Also, I don't get this knee-jerk comparison to ~Justin Bieber~ and other big pop names. Have you people even listened to a JB song before? Do you think "Heavy" somehow sounds like every current pop artist at once?
I'm pretty certain MTM was described by some as "mainstream pop trash" or some variation thereof in 2007 I think Kiiara is the only guest who sang on the album, that's why.
