Maybe because people don't expect other people who sound exactly like Chester? Don't let this get to your head and turn you into a cocky smartass.
Dude! That is awesome! I ain't even mad at ya for making those fakes because you got a great voice. Truth be told, I'll probably end up liking your fakes more than the real thing .
They're the ones on an LP track, so I wonder how much of their own influence they'll bring to it. "Heavy" for instance doesn't embrace Kiiara's glitch/experimental pop side, but yet it also doesn't sound like a typical LP track. I actually like seeing the band collaborate with other artists as it's interesting to see what they can bring to the table and to have the band step outside their comfort zone a bit. That doesn't necessarily mean it'll be good of course, but it's different and different's what I like from the band. I wonder if there are any other featured artists on this album in terms of vocals.
Agree! Different = my cup of tea The old shit = Mehh! Maybe Blackbear is feauterd on "Sorry for Now"?
Kii doesn't have a singular sound, though. "Heavy" might not be too out of place among the post-"low kii savage" songs And Push is really versatile in terms of what he can rap over. His lyrical content, though ...
A true fan (Hybrid Theory era) can always separate Chester from someone who isn't. He does sound close to Chester though, there are just little nuances that gave it away. The instrumentals from one of the clips also don't match the expected sound of this album, the poppy sound based on Heavy and BS, also the vocals sound more like 2001 Chester with lower tone than 2017 chipmunk Chester. EDIT: If was presented as a demo from 1999-2006, it would be more believable, but on One More Light? Nope.
Congrats on being able to tell that he's not actually Chester but can we stop using this term "true fan" please
I did check out his solo stuff but I found it borderline unlistenable. Its just very corny and cookie-cutter.
Actually a couple years ago CDS used to leak a week in advance. Nowadays, CDS leak a day in advance. Leaks are impossible to stop but they have made them leak shorter
Completely agree, Big for Your Boots is the shit. Love it. God I fucking hope Blackbear is on this song. He's great. Mike has said he likes him before (he said he liked his new song "Make Daddy Proud" in one of his instagram streams from a while ago. Did the same for Stormzy and guess who features on Good Goodbye!)
Don't really care for either of them, especially Stormzy because his accent just makes me laugh every time I hear him say "boots"... or damn near every word he speaks actually That said, this has me super excited for this track now. Even if I dislike it, it looks like it has the potential to be really different for LP, which I am always on board with.
I have huge expectation for this album already! I haven't checked out Stormzy 'till I've heard Mike's early February playlist, featuring Kiiara's 'feels', Julia Michaels' 'Issues' and 'Big for your Boots' by Stormzy. The track had hit me hard, it's some kind of really dope stuff. Love how Shinoda's hinting at the album sound at his pre-album playlists! If you're interested, his playlist featured these songs: K.Flay - Black Wave Stormzy - Big For Your Boots kiiara - feels Julia Michaels - Issues AJR - Weak Run the Jewels - Call Ticketron morgxn - home Mutemath - Changes SOHN - Primary 6LACK - Ex Calling Janee - Woods Imagine Dragons - Believer The xx - Say Something Loving Kehlani - Keep On P.S. I hope for K.Flay collaboration in songwriting or production, her 'Black Wave' track is so good.
I really do think this is going to be a love it or hate it album. It's not going to sound anything like ATS (obviously) but it'll match ATS in terms of the level of polarization in the fanbase. I see this album splitting fans right down the middle.
