The more I listen to it, the more I really love the lyrics. "Cause I can't see forgiveness, and you can't see the crime" is a fantastic line.
I got to say, my first impression I thought it was a big "meh", but it really is the kind of song that got better the more I listened to it. I listened to it again today, and it sounded even better. I love this song, the lyrics are great and Chester's voice is great. It quickly became my favorite of the songs released. The bridge has to be one of my favorites from them. Great song!
Hmm. I've heard it a few times now, and I'm not the best at interpreting lyrics, unless it's really obvious. What does everyone think Final Masquerade is about?
Wastelands came to iTunes on Monday after it 'leaked' on Saturday, Rebellion came Wednesday of the same week after being revealed on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure Final Masquerade would release on Monday and stream on iTunes radio starting Tuesday. I mean, I could be wrong, but don't lie and say Wastelands AND Rebellion were both released on Tuesday when NEITHER of them were.
Masquerades are those dances you see people at wearing masks or holding the masks that cover your eyes. Watch the mr bright side video from the killers lol I think the song is about 2 people trying to make a relationship work but it was never meant to be, and they kinda knew it. I look at the masquerade as the dance they are attending, but it's their relationship. Not a dance. Why a masquerade? Because they never really knew each other and loved each other. (At masquerades you can't really see the persons face). "The light in the horizon was brighter yesterday". Things seemed so much better before, but it's fading away ("shadows floating over, skies begin to fade"). Actually reminds me of a friend I have. I started developing feelings for her but knew it wasn't going to work out. She goes back to Brazil next month.
The term masquerade is more usually used to mean prentending to be someone you're not. This is more likely to be the meaning of the song, with Chester accusing his love or someone he cares for of pretending to be someone they are not, or simply accusing them of lying.
It's funny because when I first listened to the song, it immediately reminded me of a friend of mine who's one of those "hopeless romantic" types and is a fantastic writer. Funny thing is, he's obsessed with those masquerade parties... Anyways, he's currently fallen hard over this girl he works with and it's an "impossible" scenario, because she's seeing someone else and blah blah blah. It sucks because he wants this girl so bad, but he knows there's really nothing he can do without jeopardizing his friendship with her. I sent him the song because I knew he'd love it and it fits him so well - He loved it, of course. Sad context, but good times. Love the guy.
Masquerade: Noun : a false show or pretense: his masquerade ended when he was arrested. • the wearing of disguise: dressing up, role-playing, and masquerade Verb: pretend to be someone one is not: a journalist masquerading as a man in distress. • be disguised or passed off as something else: the idle gossip that masquerades as news in some local papers.
I can't wait for the release tomorrow, and then the release of RA's new single on Tuesday. My hype is just too high.
