Is it just me or has Mr. Hahn lost A LOT of weight? And he also looks 15 years younger in this OML promotional photoshoot...
After listening the snippets for few more times I have some concerns that they can still have killed the songs with overproducing them. Stripped down versions seem to have the MTM vibe but it can be very tricky and the songs can still have a lot more of LT spirit in their studio versions, which in my opinion would be a let down.
Is this the first time LP took the subject matter of death and put all that focus into one song? Oml sounds great and ive had a lot of loss in my life lately so I have a feeling even afyer all these years their music will mean just as much as it did years ago. Hope to hear it in full soon.
Whose to say that the album will sound like today's pop though? Just because Heavy admittedly sounds more generic and 'mainstream pop' than some of their other tracks, doesn't mean the remaining songs will sound like other pop artists. I didn't hear any similarity to Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendez or [insert other popular pop artist] in these snippets. Yes they're pop, but they're the band's own idea of pop...which could still feel different than other artists out there.
"Talking to Myself" sounds like something from Adele or Florence and the Machine. And that's a very good thing.
You could certainly argue that Devil's Drop discusses death. But then you could argue that its not an LP song.
True but LOATR seems to be more about personally dying while VD and OML seem to be about dealing with loss. SOTD I guess can be too.
I wonder if this is the song that Eg White collaborated with Linkin Park on. He's written with Adele and Florence and The Machine quite a bit.
