I knew it! Clearly we're getting one more after LP7 and then they're breaking up! The signs all point to it! No one can convince me otherwise!
If you're not supposed to do this, why do it? This forum is primarily for speculation, no? And that's half the fun. I don't hear riots in the streets.. It's not really cool for the rest of us to have to watch you publicly gloat that you know more than everyone else while acting like you're doing us a favor. I appreciate this space you've helped provide, your involvement in these album cycles, and your worthwhile curating of the conversation flow to keep threads on topic, but this, and moments like it, kind of just come off as a subtle yet shameless power trip that can kind of ruin the fun for the rest of us. The anticipation is why we participate. I'm happy to know this won't be the band's last album. As you explicitly stated, we'll all find out tomorrow or Thursday, but I think we all knew that already.
Um, how was Derek gloating? He's been in the know about Linkin Park stuff for years before most of us, yeah, but he doesn't flaunt it. I think you gravely misinterpreted his post, Eliot.
This. Derek is just helping promote LP And like the guy above said, break up rumors are never fun. Like I said in one of the Ober threads, I think we at least get 9 albums probably 10 and they are finished Unless they want to be like Metallica and never hang it up
That's your opinion, and you're entitled to it, as everyone else is entitled to theirs. I don't think one single person said definitively that the band was breaking up. No one, certainly, was panicking. The conversation sustains itself and guides itself as the band itself releases the information they choose to. What speculation comes from it is theirs to respond to, if any response at all is necessary.
It's our duty to inform people if they are way off on stuff. That way, rumors don't fly out of control. Derek was simply making sure that rumors didn't fly out of control.
"I'm not supposed to do this" says otherwise. The band has teased new songs and new albums slowly and in riddles for years. They work hard on their campaigns and the speculation that comes from them, positive or negative, is eventually guided to fruition. I appreciate the apparent attempt to help, but I disagree that you have a duty to us or to the band beyond doing what you're "supposed to do."
People can have opinions. People don't like when opinions get offset by facts. I'm sorry that the LPA has a reputation built on truths and not on rumors. I'm so sorry that we work hard to do that for people who want to know what's right and what's bullshit.
I think it's important to stop the melodramatic rumours of the band breaking up, we must be hyped up for new music instead.
