Yeah, what the hell, Chesters only 36! Not 66! hes got plenty of years left in him. He be crazy to retire at such a young age. I mean look at SeaSick Steve. I dont even know how old he is, and he's at the peak of his career, and his popularity is only increasing.
Age doesn't mean anything. It should be apparent that Chester is getting worse each year, and with that I'm not trying to insult him, but the fact is its true. since Linkin Park started up until 2007, Chester was able to scream and sing aggressively with ease and sounded great! from 2008 til 2011, Chester took a major drop in terms of rough vocals and its quite evident in tracks like Papercut and Faint. Mid 2012 is the start for Chester at his worst (In my opinion), not only does he not sound as good with his aggressive voice, but he is also having a very difficult time simply singing which is the obvious reason for cutting out Crawling. I don't imagine seeing New Divide and BURN IT DOWN for much longer either. When he has performances like the one at the Home Depot Center, what else can you expect asides from seeing the obvious. Though I will say that I definitely blame a lot of Chester's vocal problems on the Minutes to Midnight era
Astat pretty much covered the realistic 2013 year for Linkin Park. Here's possibilities: - Another instrumental track (new). They could out a 2 minute instrumental track that won't turn into a full-length song or be featured on an album, much like Lockjaw, or Complimentary. - Live: Playing a few Meteora songs that we haven't heard live in a while: Figure.09, Nobodies Listening Here's probabilities: - Linkin Park Underground 13. I see this being their last installment of demo discs for a while. I'd expect one A Thousand Suns demo or throwaway track to be on here, but that's it. Most likely 5 instrumentals, 2 demos of songs we've already heard, 1 A Thousand Suns demo, 1 Living Things demo. - Live: Playing a few Meteora songs that we haven't heard live in a while: Don't Stay - A few LPTV's from their upcoming Summit
I know you guys are posting counterexamples, but I'm not saying ALL rock stars have short lives. I'm saying rock stars have shorter lives in general. Counterexamples are not how you refute that. http://arstechnica.com/science/2012/12/mega-death-rock-stardom-reduces-life-expectancy/ I'm not talking about his voice either, I'm talking about his life. It's no secret Chester has a poor hospital track record. He's slipped spinal disks, had a month-long hernia crisis, injured himself, and broken his limbs more times than I could count- and this is all during the last decade. Those artists you named are positively able to have careers that long, even the other 5 members of LP, but they're not Chester. If I had been in the hospital as many times as he by the age of 35, I would go two more album cycles and then retire.
Astat and Geki pretty much summed it up... Touring similar to 2011 (Winter-September) Possibly an instrumental track Mall Some Meteora songs (Probably Don't Stay) for 10 years anniversary Live DVD LPU13
I don't know either. We won't have live recordings on LPU's because of the DSP's. And the fans loves the demos from LPU's. I just want to hear Take Away My Pride and some other demos with Mike on vocals. Oh and Left Right from the MOATS DVD. That little snippet sounds amazing.
More album recording cycles --> more demos --> more LPU CD's with demos . And Left Right sounded more then just a small demo to me.
Eh, I don't know about that. I mean I can't speak for Manson, Davis or Johnson, but Hetfield has had a ton of injuries from broken bones, to herniated discs in his back, neck surgery from simple wear & tear, to very nearly being killed on stage when he stepped into a 3,200 degree flame after confusing new pyro cues with old ones. As well as alcoholism. Anselmo, too, royally fucked up his back needing major surgery, knee surgery, drug addiction, etc. I think Chester is currently probably the fittest & healthiest he ever been (likewise the reason Hetfield is still going strong closing on 50 is because he now leads a healty lifestyle). I don't see any reason for him to retire early, unless he just looses interest/wants to do something else. As long as he's still interested his body has a long time left. Also, RE: his vocals - If he's having problems it isn't because of age (or at least not directly), it's down to poor technique, in which case he should consider a vocal coach.
I'd love to see the release of an EP. Acoustic, Country renditions, anything, as long as it's interesting and perhaps unexpected.
