If they record demos that eventually become album-worthy, then yes, they are recording for the album.

 

Demos are like rough drafts to an essay. Simple as that.

If you find that recording demos that will eventually be part of the Album being recording for the album then thats what it is but it's not actually recording the final product. There's no way either of you are going to win this argument.
