I think the art is simple but pretty awesome. A Piru and a Crip standing next to each other throwing hearts. Reminds me of the m.A.A.d City lyrics: If Pirus and Crips all got along/They'd probably gun me down by the end of this song/Seem like the whole city go against me/Every time I'm in the street I hear/YAWK YAWK YAWK YAWK
Different. I won't say anything since it sounds like it might be a grower, but it didn't blow me away on the first listen. Will edit OP... eventually.
I dig the fuck outta that. That bass solo wasn't too impressive, but it was chill AF. I don't know much by Kendrick Lamar or his music, but that sure sounds very different for him! On Friday, I almost picked up the Target Deluxe Edition of Good Kid, M.A.A.D City for 13 bucks. Kinda wish I did now.
I usually like his darker songs a bit more but the new song is really good. It still needs some time to grow on me but I can already hear the potiential.
I can understand why many like him, but he's just not for me. I gave "good kid, m.A.A.d city" a listen, and I just wasn't feeling it. I'll admit he's easily better than most lyrically, but his music unfortunately doesn't grab me like it does for so many. I'll give this album a listen when it's out and maybe I'll find something in it that I didn't find in his previous work. I feel like he's the kind of rapper that'll only get better over time.
