So the Yeezus tour officially started. And it just out-Kanye'd Kanye. And it's both awesome and messed up. His stage is essentially a gigantic mountain with a large circular screen above him. He wore many masks. One of his songs had a Jesus Christ look-alike. The stage took two hours to set up Kendrick Lamar set: 1. Money Trees 2. Backseat Freestyle 3. Fuckin' Problems (2x) 4. Swimming Pools (Drank) 5. Poetic Justice 6. m.A.A.d. City 7. Sing About Me 8. Compton Kanye West setlist 1. On Sight 2. New Slaves 3. Send It Up 4. Mercy 5. Power 6. Cold 7. Black Skinhead 8. I just read this: "Kanye's in a position of power, and he accepts his responsibility as a superstar to change pop music," says Theo. "A lot of people in his position don't snatch that opportunity. People have to play Kanye, and people have to listen to Kanye - so it's up to him to make music that's interesting and can change the landscape, whereas a lot of these big popstars don't take the initiative." (Theo Hutchcraft of Hurts) http://www.gigwise.com/features/85694/hurts-were-a-different-band-in-every-country What he says comes directly out of my mind. I'm sure that is exactly what Kanye is doing. I mean who else could bring even a song like Black Skinhead to the radio?
So whis is Mr. Anti-Establishment's music all over ads? I found that kind of funny seeing as he seems to be railing against that sort of thing in the age of Yeezus
Why is that cry? MMLP2 is a total disappointment. Yeezus shits all over it. I think Black Skinheads in a car commercial right now, too. Really weird juxtaposition.
It's just a matter of taste, though. I still find "Yeezus" way more interesting than the recent Eminem stuff and any other hip-hop stuff that's come out recently, personally.
To me, Em's output has been, with a few exceptions, pretty mediocre for about a decade. Technically, he's still one of the best MCs to walk the face of the earth, but he just doesn't deliver the songs like he used to. Kanye's far from the best rapper, but his music is so much more vibrant and exciting, even when it sucks. With that said, Yeezus is probably more interesting than it is good.
Kanye's finally releasing his "Bound 2" video. The thing is, he's premiering it on Ellen, which is really weird for something like him. http://www.billboard.com/articles/c...kanye-west-to-premiere-bound-2-video-on-ellen
