Fair enough. We don't need an admin really, just somebody to forward all the pieces of writing to GiriosXeni as he is the one hosting it.

Although, whoever is being sent the poems can't vote as they'll be the only person who knows who wrote them. So, all we need is a middle man to recieve the poems & then forward them anonymously to GiriosXeni.

I say all this stuff, yet I don't know how votes are goint to happen. Being as GiriosXeni wants to host this thing, maybe he can tell me how the votes will take place. Are we going to just post which poem(s) we think is/are the best & then calculate the total of votes at the end of the week. Are we going to do it as a poll? I have no idea.

How about we set up a topic where people post their pieces of writing (1 each) and there's a designated time when the topic is closed by an admin or somthing, then another topic is set up to vote (it can't be a poll though unless somehow we can have more than 10 options to vote)

I think this whole thing would work better if the pieces of writing were posted anonymously, that way, there can't be any bias votes towards their favourite writers, and the vote is purely based on the poem / lyrics.

This shouldn't be that hard to organize, here is how it should go down.

    • Somebody volunteers to recieve lyrics / poems from people who want to take part. The poems / lyrics should be sent through PM to whoever volunteers. Although, whoever volunteers will be a middle man and can't vote or enter a piece of work.
    • Whoever is the volunteer will then put all the poems into a post format and send the post to GiriosXeni as he is hosting it.
    • GiriosXeni will then post the post with the entries on in a new topic.
    • Members of the forum will then reply to that topic saying which piece of writing / poem / lyrics is their favourite. Anyobody who entered work can vote as long as it's not their work. Only the volunteer (middle man) will know if the entrants vote isn't theirs as they recieved the initial post from them. So it would be their job to make sure that nobody votes for their own piece of work.
    • I agree, that entries should be a max of 2 poems per person, that way, the people can get a feel of two different pieces from the same writer and make a better decision based on two poems etc.
    • Votes will be calculated within three days and the set of poems with the highest votes will win. Simple as that.

That's how I think it should go down, all we need is a middle man. If anyone has any suggestions or anything that concerns this fucking competition, please speak up, as this is becoming a lot of hassle.

Are you saying that there should be one big post full of pieces of writing and everyone votes underneath?

    Yes. Kind of like this.

...and so on, depending on how many people enter with their two poems. If 10 people enter, then there will be 10 of these with all 20 poems in. Then people will post after that, voting for which set of poems is the best (from the same entrant).

Ok then well If I was to volunteer would I just be labeling the writing with the person who wrote it and send all of them of to Giriosxeni?

If you was to volunteer, you'd have to wait until you've recieved 10 entry's from members. Once you have recived about 10, you'll then have to do a lot of copy & pasting  because you'll have to edit all of the poems from the PM's you recieved into a whole new PM so you can send it to GiriosXeni. You should end up with something like this:

    One
    Two
...and so on until you have posted all entries in this format. Everyone wil then vote for which number they think has the best two poems. The one with the most votes within a set time wins. That's my metod of action anyway.

Ok I really would love to do that but I'm not going to now

I'll still help out on whatever else I can though,I'd rather be on this little board of directors than upset everyone by winning :p

And Joe that post was the best post I've seen in my time on LPA

Is that to be our middle man or to enter the competition?

I'm guessing there'll be a lot of entries to the competition, we just need somebody to accept the PM's, take all the poems from the PM's and put them into the format shown above and then send that post to GiriosXeni who wants to host it.

Well, I want to enter the competition, so I guess I can't be the middleman. =(

    Sorry. Maybe next time.

This all sounds great, Uncle Raj. We'll start it as soon as an admin gives us the go if he shall send me the poems so I receive them anonymously.

Yeah, that's just it now. All we need is a middleman and everything else should go from there. It doesn't look like anyone is interested, not even an admin. Also, anybody who could possibly do it, wants to submit work. So we're kinda stuck at the minute, unless someone steps up.

I'd happily do it, but I wanted to submit work myself. I guess I could, I just wouldn't be able to vote. That way I'd be able to put my work among everyone elses in the final post when everyone has sent me their poems.

So, if everyone agrees, I'll do it. I just won't be able to vote. Everyone else will, just not for their own pieces.

Great! Well if you agree GiriosXeni, all I need to know now is how many people can enter? Or just have an unlimited amount of entries but set a time limit for when they have to be PM'd to me by? For example, everyone must have their entries in by...I don't know Thursday afternoon? That way GiriosXeni should have the competition up by Thursday night.

Well, now that we have Raj as our Middle-Man, we're basically all set, so let me set down some things.

Since I don't want people to be left out of this, an unlimited amount of people can enter into this competition. Unfortunately, I believe that accounts on the LPA can only be filled with a certain amount of messages, and so some people trying to send messages through a PM account would be restricted. I would think that maybe e-mailing them to him FROM THE LPA, not from your e-mail account in general (you click on Uncle Raj's Name and then you say E-mail and it takes you to a little box and so on...). That way, even though Raj would be filled with e-mails, he can still accept a whole lot considering e-mail space these days, and therefore send them to me by e-mail as well (Raj, PM me to talk about how that's gonna work).

So, anyone who wants to submit poems may do so, but I need to give the go. I don't know about Thursday afternoon. I'm thinking I'll display the lyrics on three or four or however many required topics if the administrators do not mind, since there will probably be very many submissions.

To make my life and Raj's life easier...NO MORE THAN ONE POEM OR SET OF LYRICS MAY BE SENT FROM ONE SINGLE PERSON. You have to win the competition fair and square. One poem/set of lyrics ONLY. No more.

So, let me just talk to an administrator and settle it out, see what he thinks, and then we'll be set to go. No one send e-mails to Raj until I GIVE THE WORD, which is basically when both Raj and I are ready, and permissions from admins given.

Hold on. Everything is fine with that, only I think that we should have all of the sumbmissions in one topic, instead of about four like you said. If we give everyone a set date to have their one poem / lyrics in by, I.E, sent to me through E Mail, then that should be it. No one can enter after that date. This way, it saves the hassle of making more than one thread and I'll know where I am with submissions, also, this way, once the date has been reached, I can edit them all into an anonymous post which I'll then send you to post it.

    That's even better.

So, until I get a response from Mark, this competition won't begin. But here's what I have in mind now.

The competition lasts a school week, meaning 5 days (I don't know which days). That is the amount of time you have to submit your poem/lyrics to Uncle_Raj by e-mail. When the week ends, no other poems will be allowed. Uncle_Raj will edit them so that they are as if sent anonymously, into one large e-mail, and send it to me.

I will make a topic, most likely saying "Lyrics Contest 2005". In one long, long post, I shall post the poems. I shall NUMBER THEM to make it easier. So, when voting for one, you shall say, for example. #26 or something. You can only vote for one, and it CANNOT BE YOUR OWN. And as I said before, no submitting more than one. Also, voting will last a whole week, meaning 7 days. I don't want to see any other posts other than mentioning your vote. In your same post, you may put a compliment to the one YOU ARE VOTING FOR.

After that is done, I shall organize all of the votes. It might take me some time if there is a lot. Then another topic will be posted on the top 3. I need some ideas for possible rewards.
