I think the issue is different people are complaining each time so it makes it look back when in actuality the people who weren't complaining before now are and the people who were complaining now aren't. People are often on one side or the other and not "in between" so when an entity, such as Linkin Park, switches to the other side, the people who agreed with the old stance are going to voice their concern with the new stance.
I think the only setlist that would truly satisfy Linkin Park's online fanbase would be one where they play the Hybrid Theory EP in its entirety, plus Forgotten, Figure.09, and...I dunno, A Place for My Head a dozen times in a row to close things out because people have such a boner for it?
If it were my choice, I'd want to see a set consisting of only Hybrid Theory, Meteora and Minutes To Midnight songs since I haven't liked any of the band's music that came after Minutes To Midnight. However, I don't go to the shows, I haven't been to a Linkin Park show since 2008. So I don't really care what they play. The only thing I've been saying is that each of the main albums should be represented, maybe 3 songs from each one, so that fans of all eras can have fun.
I know I'm not all of LP's online fanbase but just play 3-4 songs of every album and that would make me happy. That's it and it's something they have done before so I know they can do it. EDIT: But a 20 year Hybrid Theory Anniversary tour would make me crap bricks!
I love Hybrid Theory EP! One of my favorite works from the band by far. I wouldn't expect them to play anything off it live nowadays, though, like some fans do.
