ok, i just watched the Apple conference thing, and I'll admit, i'm starting to like the nano. I think Apple will go further and further. It's just the price range. 250 for 1,000 songs....that's kinda expensive. They should mark the shuffle down to 50 dollars (for the 1 gig one). It should be 150 for the 4 gig nano. I thought about getting the 2 gig nano, but 200 bucks for it...i'll pass.

If it's that thin, won't it just be more fragile? Still cool, though.

That is bad. I paid 655$ for my photo and that holds around 15,000 songs.

I don't know about the technical aspect of it, but from just looking at the picture and pressing "reply", that thing looks extremely sexy.

Neil lives in Canada. Hence, $655 there is not the same as $655 here.

Also, Tekkiji, the pricing scheme isn't that bad. The price you're paying for the Nano isn't neccesarily for the storage space, you're paying for the convienence of being small, solid state (skip free memory), ect. Everyone thought, when the 4 gig minis were introduced at $250, they wouldn't sell since bigger iPods (20 gigs maybe?) were only $50 more. But, as we saw, they couldn't keep minis in stock because they sold so damn fast. The mini was so much smaller than the regular iPods that people thought it was worth the high price tag.

Personally, if I had 200 extra bucks, I'd buy a Nano just to use in my car even though I have a 40 gig. I thought about buying a Shuffle when they came out so I had something to take to class with me. Because if something's going to get broken or stolen, I'd rather have it be the $200 iPod rather than my $400 one.

    heh, true.

I bought the iPod under unfortunate circumstances, really. My 40 gig iPod crapped out, the hard drive failed, and its about 2 months out of warranty. I only really had the money for the Nano, and even though it's 2 gigs doesn't begin to hold my 30 gig music library, I only used my old one to shuffle a couple gigs of my favorite songs. So this serves the purpose.

I think the iPod nano is way too overpriced. Why pay $200 for 1,000 songs on a flash memory when you can get a 20GB iPod that holds 5,000 songs for only $100 more? Plus the nano could get lost or damaged way too easily, due to it's small size.

That's exactly what everyone said about the iPod mini. And tell em what happened to those. They sold like hotcakes, they couldn't even keep them in shelves. Take a look at Apple's market share too, they own somewhere around 80% of the market with just the iPod line, and most of that is due to the mini.

And i think anybody who loses a $250 dollar piece of gear is a moron. I'f you're paying over $100 for something, I'm pretty sure you're going to keep good track of it and not lose it.

When Apple fixes the scratching problem, I'm going to sell my Rio Nitrus and buy a 4GB nano. ^_^ I can prob sell my Rio for $200 and my dad said he's pay the rest. ^_^

...and if they don't fix the scratching problem, I'm just going to buy an InvisibleShield.

I've figured, since I don't really need 20 gigs of music, I'm gonna get one of these. (I have an iPod already, the variety is great especially for long outings, but I basically listen to it only at school so it's not that necessary). I'm gonna get a job so I can buy one before Christmas. I started organizing my favorite 3.8gb of music that I'll actually want to listen to while out and about.

Yeah, I realised I don't need to carry around my 35GB+ library around with me, and 4GB will most likely be enough for me.

I've got a 2 gig nano and a 31 gig music library and the nano suits me just fine. I have an iTunes playlist of about 1000 of my favorite songs, and have a smart playlist to grab 2 gigs worth of music from it randomly and sync that to my iPod. When I get bored of that music, I just make the playlist randomly select new music, sync, and am on my way.
