Aww I'm kidding.
Yay and I was the one who found the first clip of QWERTY!
holy shit! thought you became big after the phoenix interview, but i guess now you really made the step to the biggest fansite out there. am proud to be a member for so long *points at join date* .
no one talking about robengel anymore, huh derek?
I miss Robengel to be honest. Wonder whatever happened to him.
that's easy to say now . no, honestly, all of a sudden he seemed to disappear. never saw him ever again.
Robengel had a pretty impressive fansite around the time Hybrid Theory was still picking up steam. Much like the rest of the sites that popped up around then, he eventually closed it and disappeared. Beyond that though, I'm not sure what else he was known for.
his site was the biggest at this particular time and i remember a vivid chat i had with some guy who wanted to start a fansite back then and asked me for some media. he was persistant and always told me about his goal, to be bigger with his site than robengel.
as you might figure, this guy was derek back in early 2002
Ah ok, kewl.
As with anybody who starts a new business or website, you treat this venture as if it's your baby and you nurture it and do whatever you can in the hopes it will grow up to be successful and make it places.
And that's just what I did in writing Trumtram all those years ago for media. I wanted us to get out there, be well known and have the band actually visit our website in due time. Never did I picture that all the sites we looked up to (Robengel, LPFan, PushingMeAway, and LPAlliance) would all close their doors and we'd still be left standing 7 years later. It's astonishing, and to be mentioned by the band and have you guys all supporting us like you have is just awesome. Seriously, we couldn't of got here without you guys visiting and telling your friends about us so Mike's shoutout isn't just for LPA...it's for you guys too.
Btw, little random fact: Keaton came on board from another fansite called The LP Fusion which he was running at the same time LPA was coming up. One of our former staff members were close friends with him and invited him on, we agreed...and in turn we got one hell of a staff member and artist on board. LPFusion has since gone defunct (since Keaton is a fulltime LPA staff member) but I thought I'd give a shoutout to his old site cause that site was badass.
like you just said: sticking around for 7 years has to mean something in fanpage terms. well deserved, buddy!
Hopefully the next LP album is a return to form for the guys (I wasn't 100% satisfied with Minutes To Midnight) and I'm posting here in 2012 celebrating the 10 Year Anniversary.
Of course...the world is supposed to end on December 21st of that year, so maybe LPA can have a "End Of The World As We Know It" bash. Everyone together, counting down to armageddon. Woo!
oh shit, i almost forgot that! we're all gonna die so soon, it's a shame . next lp better be really good, haha. but hearing lp talk about prog-rock gives hope, like always .
If LP goes actual prog-rock on the new album? I'll eat my hat.
*Gets hat ready*.
I wish when LP said something...they actually did it.
That's fucking awesome!
You didn't know this happened Mark? .
Oh well. Badass .
