Another poll, cause I love polls. I remember Mike saying that some people couldn't tell if it was him or Chester on A Thousand Suns at some points, which was very interesting, any "chester" tracks you think Mike could pull off?
interesting poll actually. As much as I'd like them to, I can't see it really. Chester's become such an important figure in the band, I doubt the rest of the band mates would be up for continuing/replacing him. Even by looking at live shows where one member's sick. They carry on if it someone like Phi or Joe, but have to cancel if its Chester or Mike.
Chester is, arguably, one of the best vocalists around today. They'd be fucked if he left, to put it bluntly
It's sad to say, but I mean, if the band lost anyone else besides Chester and Mike, they could continue, because apart from creative input in the album-creating process their role is largely instrumental. However, a band's identity is so heavily dependent upon its vocalists and creative foundation. It's hard for me to think of bands that truly survived the loss of a vocalist after they became successful. AC/DC is an excellent example of a band that never really bounced back from it, and for a lot of people, it was in large part because of his unique voice. The same can be applied to Linkin Park if Chester were to part from the band.
I honestly think they would stop. And everyone would just do other projects or something. Example Mike with Fort Minor, scoring films, etc.
Nah I think they would definitely continue. I mean, Chester is one of the greatest vocalists of all time, and he would be pretty difficult to replace, but I am sure that Linkin Park would continue with a new singer. Well, then again, if it was late in their career, when they were in their 50's, and Chester left, I don't think that Linkin Park would go on. So, it all depends on timing.
I would no longer listen to LP if there was no Chester. I don't think they'd continue to make music if he wasn't a member, and he would never leave LP, not would the band ever kick him out.
Those vocals were blended together intentionally to create that effect. It doesn't mean their voices are the same. Many of Chester's parts in Linkin Park songs are within Shinoda's range but, whether he could "pull off" those songs ... I doubt it. Most of the big choruses Linkin Park would definitely be too much for Shinoda to do.
IMO it would be more difficult to replace Mike Shinoda, if he left the bad. Mike Shinoda IS Linkin Park, he's about 75 % of LP (and we all know it). Chester would be a very hard lost, but if he left the band I think a similar "concept" of LP will stay alive without him. Imagening LP without Mike? Seriously, I can't in any way.
