This is definitely my favorite of the 90's demos on this LPU. As much as I like the Pods, this one has a very sick guitar riff and cool/interesting effects in the background. Mike explained in the Track-by-Track video that this demo was recorded entirely on an MPC, with band members' contributions being sampled onto it. He's definitely right when he says Hurry is in the vein of other prominent 90's LP demos like Carousel and Part of Me, which he cited. I wish I knew exactly what an MPC is Oh, and I definitely get a visceral vibe from this one.
It's a sampler. MPC is a specific and widely-used kind of sampler made by Akai. Correct me if I'm wrong.
This demo is an instrumental. If you like LP's 90's sound that came shortly before Hybrid Theory, you'll likely enjoy this one. Thanks, guys, for explaining what an MPC is. I have never made my own music, so I only tend to know about more traditional instruments, not really much about machines and programs.
hmm i think i m going to give it a listen when it pops on youtube ... but knowing it s an instrumental killed my hype
Carousel remains as one of my fav songs. I listen to it very occasionally, and the dark vibe always gets me.
Mike uses Maschine a lot more now. The last model of MPC he was using prominently was the MPC 1000. That had heavy use on ATS. I've got one of those but one of the buttons is broken ....
Yeah, it reminds me of So Far Away and Coal too. And Oh No. Anyways I really like how the guitar comes in.
Really love the dark pre hybrid theory sound, awesome track. HTEP era Mike rapping on this would have sounded nice.
I listened to it and so far away pausing and playing and then playing them together. They def used it in so far away. I guess mike didn't say that cuz he probably didn't remember, it's so old. They're not going to remember every thing they create like it was yesterday
Pretty cool sounding, obviously unlike anything they would make today, but still different from what the HT/Meteora sound.
