It has me intrigued, for sure. Though, from what I have heard BURN IT DOWN and LIES GREED MISERY, it doesn't seem to be shaping up as an album that in my opinion can topple A Thousand Suns - we'll just have to wait and see hear.
I can't vote in a poll that asks my opinion about something that is still a mystery that I don't know.. Just saying.
So far, it seems like I wil like this album. Won't be as creative as ATS but way more fun and energetic, which, honestly, is what I was hoping for My only concern with BID and LGM is the mix, I would prefer a more raw and less polished sound, but it's not that big of a problem. And yes, the drums sound a little too simple and electronic for me maybe, but I still like the songs. In fact electronic is not even the right word, I love electronic beats. But those in LGM and BID sounds..."polished"? I don't know how to explain it, I just wish they had been more cool Curious about the rest of the record!
If you've listened to BURN IT DOWN and LIES GREED MISERY, then you're able to vote as it's asking what you think thus far. If you haven't, stick with that.
It's a Bliss poll/competition. Go easy on the kid, but you should've expected it. I did. I didn't vote.
I've been easy on him. I'm going to edit out the parts in the quote that I don't fully agree with. Either way, I didn't see an option that fit my outlook thus far.
OMG I can't wait for Food & Liquor II. Old Lupe back with a mix of old and new LP? Hells yea. I was not a huge fan of A thousand suns, but it wasnt terrible and wasnt their worst album. I do think Living Things has the expectation to be their best album, but will proubably fall 2nd to Hybrid Theory to me.
If it's not their best album then obviously you think that it's good but it could be better, otherwise then it would be the best one (which btw is a pretty positive outlook) It's in the thread title you goofball. All the poll options are "so far"
I've been a tad disappointed so far. I mean I like the songs but they just feel empty (for lack of a better word)
burn it down for me is just amazing but i just hope there are way better songs in the album that have more energy like the catalyst
I feel like Burn it Down and Lies Greed Misery would've been mind blowing if they had come out before A Thousand Suns. This isn't to say that I dislike the songs, but the natural progression seems to be out of order. Minus is right though, wishing for an ATS part II makes me no better than the Hybrid Theory/Meteora-philes that plague the linkinpark.com boards with poor grammar. I suppose I shouldn't ever hope that a new album sounds precisely like another, but I do wonder what it will take to top or progress forward from A Thousand Suns. So far, (and I want to stress so far because I've only heard two songs) Living Things sounds like the album Linkin Park forgot to release between Minutes to Midnight and A Thousand Suns.
Wow really? I feel like it was in a pretty good order. I still feel like LIVING THINGS is a natural progression from A Thousand Suns. I think A Thousand Suns helped Linkin Park get more comfortable with having an "electronic" feel to their songs. I also feel that ATS was perfect right after MTM. If these songs (BID & LGM) came out right after MTM did, I feel like the conciensious change that LP was making to step out of their comfort zone would have been all for nothing. (The rock/rap thing) Anyways, I feel that LT so far has a lot of influence from ATS and everything else the band has done, so there fore, is in the right order.
It's already out of the running for best album in my book. Really don't like BID or LGM, so I right away I can't call it a solid album front to back. Tinfoil is good & Mike's verse from Until It Breaks gives me some hope for the rest of the songs.
I'm feeling the same way based on what I've heard and the various descriptions of the songs. Should be interesting.
So far I am really liking what I'm hearing, especially with the fact than even despite having read song descriptions, they still took me by surprise. That goes particularly with LIES GREED MISERY, I read about it and I thought it sounded really interesting, but I didn't make a "picture" of it in my mind, so when I heard it for the 1st time during Zane Lowe's show it surprised me completely because I didn't expect it to sound that way, and I ended up loving it. Also it's been over a month that BID has been released and many people already got bored of it, or just didn't feel it on the first place, but I'm still yet to get enough of it. I was hesitant to vote, but I decided to vote that it will be their best album yet not because I like what I'm hearing, but because I think this is Linkin Park making peace with itself, embracing its own identity and personality without having to scrap pieces of it, it's like they are accepting who they are as a band and ATS was that amazing journey that made them figure themselves out and give a complete new approach to their music, as well as bringing that experience and freshness into the "familiar" territory they had conquered during their early days. I seriously can't wait for this record, I am really pumped, I know they will still surprise me no matter how many times I read the song descriptions from any website, I am being very open minded about it and trying not to imagine how the songs should sound like, I just want them to sound the way they want them to.
