I actually liked Martyrs. The plot, which I wasn't expecting to be that original, really surprised me. The torture scenes felt a little drawn out in places, but I guess it was necessary for the story.

I also like Martyrs. The French have made some of the better horror flicks of the best few years, as far as I'm concerned.

The [REC] movies are also fantastic. They took the Blair-Witch-style "found footage" gimmick and pulled it off in a unique way. The last ten minutes of [REC] in particular are fucking intense.

Horror Movies That End Up Being Not Scary At All
    Don't have.

Everytime I watch Horror movies it always end up me screaming or slapping someone. Hahaha  I'm brutal. Maybe the second time around like Drag Me To Hell it's more of comedy. Paranormal Activity 1 was boring. Feng Shui was the only Pinoy film that you could say "scary" but after 3 times watching it I realized it's too blah. Japanese horror movies are pretty good and sometimes it's too disturbing. The Exorcist was the only film that made me sick for a week. I saw it when I was 14 and until now I can't even stand to watch the trailer. I've watched Quarantine the Hollywood version of [REC] and it was pretty good I guess. I think I should watch [REC].

Nobody say The Village (2004). That's a movie we don't speak of. Plus, I watched it again last week and thought it was really well done -- apart from the ending of course.

"Horror Movies That End Up Not Being Scary At All"

How about anything made after the 1980s.

Speak for yourself. Did you ever see The Blair Witch Project (1999) in an empty theater on a Saturday night in Nowheresville, USA, and then go back to your camp tent for the night? Don't think so.

The ending was just horse shit. It started out scary and then it was like "oh fool me I should've known".

If you want a scary ending see My Little Eye. The movie was kinda meh but the ending gave me nightmares when I was 14.

The effect a film has on the viewer depends on how it's watched. If I'm going to see a horror movie I'm going to do it at night, on the big screen, with the bass turned up and with no distractions. It's easy to call any move as "not scary at all" if you're watching it in broad daylight on a 10" screen through little laptop speakers.

Drag Me To Hell....that was more of an unintentional comedy.

Yeah, it is intentional. I quite enjoyed it. Mostly because that girl is so smokin hot.

No, but I did fall asleep in the middle of it in an empty theater. Woke up in time to see the tail end and died.

    Laughing.

Seriously. They don't make them like they use to.

Yeah haha. I like that film too. From what I've seen it's pretty much Sam Raimi's signature style to make horror films that are over the top and silly as much as anything.
