    Silent Hill was AMAZING.

    Some other good ones are:
    The Descent
    Saw series
Battle Royale I and II (they're Japanese films)
    Land of the Dead
    Final Destination series
    The Ring
    The Blob (1988)

Yeah, but it doesn't always come straight to mind when talking about horror.

I never played the games that much so I wouldn't know...I didn't get the ending to the film at all either, are they like trapped in 2 different worlds or what?

Old Boy... I love that movie. Especially the end.

I'm not a big fan of many American horror films, they just don't do it for me psychologically. THe kind of horror I enjoy are the ones that just built up and scare you that way, instead of BOO!

    I recommend:

Ju-On: it's the Japanese version of the Grudge. Way better.
Ju-On 2: It's different than the American version (there are SOME similarities), but what I like about this one is how sneaky they are with this movie. Definitely one to watch on DVD and pay attention to. Pay VERY close attention.
    Ringu: Japanese Ring.
    The Eye
    Old Boy

Man, Old Boy is the only flick (recently) that I can't watch without feeling dirty or disturbed, especially watching it more than once. I'm sure they're really going to mess up the American remake, though.

Btw, I've seen so many versions of The Eye that I don't even know which one is the original.

They're making an American version of Old Boy?

    We're fucked.

EDIT: There's one scene in Old Boy that SUCKS to watch after already seeing it.

Are Old Boy and Ju-On in English?
Because I don't want to seem like a typical dumb American more than I already am, but I'd sort of like to be able to understand them.
I mean, I appreciate it and everything as a film, but I like to be able to follow the story.

    At least subtitles?

And does anyone know if they'd have Old Boy at Blockbuster?

I'm not sure if Blockbuster has it. I borrow/buy my Asian flicks from one of those local video stores that specialize in foreign films. You might want to check the "mom and pop" stores (as they call it) for those types of films if Blockbuster doesn't.

As for subtitles, yes, Ju-On and Oldboy should have subtitles. My DVDs have subtitles. I guess the best thing to do is ask the clerks when you find them if there's subtitles. I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a trouble to check. However I would think if they're available in English stores, there should be English subtitles.

...But Ju-On might leave you confused either way. I've watched the series many times and I'm still confused to a degree. :p

Yeah, the protagonists alternate from regular world to hell world at certain specific intervals in the game.

and Branden, for the 54326432th time...see Silent Hill.

    Just a quick question:
Do you have to see House Of 1000 Corpes before you can see the sequel The Devil's Rejects?

(didn't want to make a new thread about it...)

Kind of. I saw Devils Rejects before seeing 1000 Corpses and I didn't know at the time it was a sequel, but watching the first one gives you an idea as to why the things in Devils Rejects happen.

Oh, okay. Then I'll have to find a copy of House Of 1000 Corpses somewhere...
