Do you have the Flash plugin for Firefox? Having Flash installed is one thing, but the plugin is another.
yeah i have the plug in, or else the vids wouldnt even come up what so ever... like i can play the vid thats like on its own lil preview on the main youtube page but if i goto the official page for any vid it brings up that message that ur javascript is turned off or you dont have the latest flash ive even uninstalled flash player and reinstalled it but it still didnt work... i checked norton to see if javascript or anything is blocked and it isnt either... and it just randomly started doing this today... it didnt do this yesterday... oh yea for some reason when i did log on to youtube the video watching page was already in beta mode which i found kinda odd...
Sometimes that happens. I just downloaded the IE Tab addon for FF. I switch back between IE/FF engines in FF and it usually fixes the problem for me.
Interesting problem indeed. The exact same thing happened to me about 2 months ago, and I was forced to use IE 7 (it still worked on IE for me) for about 3 weeks (it actually has a nice way of handling RSS feeds, I don't like using external programs for that). Most images wouldn't load and flash content just absolutely did not work. I checked all my security and image display settings, even reinstalled Firefox about 3 or 4 times (don't be afraid to try this, it retains all your add-ons/extensions). Anyways, after said 3 weeks, I tried Firefox and it had just decided to start working again. I know it sounds ridiculous and highly unlikely. The larger problem is that not even IE is an option. I apologize for my lengthy post that looked like it may have had a solution, I just wanted to tell my side of the problem.
its alright, i guess i can try reinstalling Firefox ive tried everything else lol like the videos work everywhere else, for example, if someone posts a youtube video on their myspace, i can watch it fine there but if i goto youtube.com to go watch the same video itll bring up the stupid " Either your javascript is turned off or you needa go get the newest flash player" ... it gets pretty frustrating after trying about 10 diff solutions and coming back to youtube to play a video and having that same message come up... and it cant be my network either because my roommates laptop plays the videos fine... do you think the information technology guys at my college would most likely be able to figure it out? considering i have a dell and apparently theyre dell certified technicians supposedly
that's interesting embedded youtube videos work but actual videos on the site don't. I have no clue what could be making it do that.
PROBLEM RESOLVED!!!!!! THANKFULLY I got it to work... I hadda do some real looking around and finally after 3 days of feeling like I was the ONLY person on the planet with the problem someone else posted a thing on yahoo answers about the same problem... apparently its a youtube issue that theyre trying to resolve the issue because the players on the actual page have a conflict with some adblocker so to try resolving the issue: goto your norton or w/e you use for security and turn the popup blocker off and do the same in your browser such as Firefox (Tools-Options-unclick the block popups box) and IE (Tools-Internet Options- Security- Custom level turn on all javascript and either prompt or enable most activex things) This pretty much made me go phsyco trying to figure out why it was doing this but heres the original thing that gave me the answer: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/i...kKr5RL5u.Bd.;_ylv=3?qid=20071023204720AAadqbk Thanks everyone for helping! Thankfully for now... the problem is FINALLY resolved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ha yeah in my experience with other problems, I've found that Yahoo! Answers can actually be a very helpful place.
NIS fucks up the day again? Figures. Good to hear you guys found a solution. I keep forgetting how some firewalls [*coughnortoncough*] mess up your tubes.
yeah now that its been happening for like 3 days now to other ppl its finally showing up online and solutions are being made... youtube mighta fixed it by now but im not sure
I'm a dell certified technician. It means nothing. Its a non recognized certification Dell technicians get because the company can't put out enough money to get us all A+ certified.
