Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, known by her stage name Halsey, is an Indie Pop artist who currently has one EP out (Room 93) and 4 songs out from here Debut album, Badlands. She is 20 years old, born in New Jersey with her mom being white and her dad being black. Growing up, Halsey's father listened to The Notorious B.I.G., Slick Rick, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, and 2Pac while her mother listened to The Cure, Nirvana, and Alanis Morissette. She says this has influenced her as a musician and her style. She comments on this topic in her song New Americana, with a line that says: "Grew Up On Biggie and Nirvana." She is currently on tour with Imagine Dragons but has recently announced her first headlining tour. The name "Badlands" is a reference to Halsey's state of mind while writing the album, to give a physical place as a metaphor for a desolate and lonely mind. Sorry for double post. Her tickets went on sale this morning and within 5 hours she had already sold out every show but 4 (two of which are a venue upgrade and a second night). That's pretty impressive for an up and coming artist! Source: https://twitter.com/halsey/status/627226631518580736 Edit: Just checked her website and Florida is now sold out. That leaves all but 3 shows sold out Montreal needs better taste in music I also got tickets to see her in Arizona!
I'm pretty excited for this album. Halsey first came on my radar when I heard the Lost Kings remix of Ghost. So far, Hold Me Down is pretty good, but New Americana has really grown on me and I love it now.
Absolutely can't wait for this one! Checked her out in preparation to watch her opening set for Imagine Dragons (where she absolutely smashed it), and damn I'm pumped for it.
Nice, I'm glad ill be seeing her in October because I almost bought tickets to Imagine Dragons (But had already seen them twice) and at the time I didn't know who she was. Now I'm addicted and wish I had bought ID tickets to see here haha
Halsey's been announced as one of the support acts for The Weeknd's upcoming North American fall tour, along with Banks and Travi$ Scott.
This is definitely an interesting collaboration Don't even remember the dates but I will pass on this show
The album was pretty good. So far, one of my favorites has to be Control. I'll give a more in depth review when I have time to really listen to the album. I've been really busy lately.
This is definitely my AOTY so far beating out Currents. While I don't think she did the greatest job covering I Walk The Line, John Cash is hard to cover. I do think the rest of the songs are fantastic. Ibe also been super busy lately and can't go in depth but it definitely think it surpassed my already high expectations.
I'm really enjoying this album. Haunting and Colors are my favourites at the moment, but I actually like all the songs on the album which is a pretty rare thing for me. It's cool to see that Halsey and Banks will be supporting The Weeknd on tour!
I love 'Control'! Whole album is great. Generally i don't like pop, but this kind of indie pop from Halsey (her voice.. instrumentals..) is mmmm, nice.
I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread, because this album is sick. Garbage is the best by far, but everything is pretty good.
