Just got back from the SF Halo 2 gathering and it was.. wait, there isn't a word for it. It was too far beyond awesome to explain it. There was about 200 people packed into a movie theater with 4 xboxes with Halo 2's final release multiplayer all linked at the bottom by the screen. Up top in the projection room was another box where 2 people at a time played people in NY, IL, and TX. This was shown on the big screen so at any point in the night you could see 5 different screens of Halo 2. As for how the game actually is, it was one of the funnest hour long session of video game competition I've ever experienced. I played Halo for more time than anyone could count so I was able to note all the differences quickly. Improvements were made in controler adjustment (not that they were hard before) and game types got some fixes (example: in oddball if the skull falls off a ledge into mist you no longer have to wait the 30 seconds for it to respawn, it's instantly placed randomly about the map). Also, the added weapon features are insanely easy to use. Duel wielding came natural to everyone there and was the prefered meathod of killing. Everyone there got into the matches. Even the people that sucked were getting into it, yelling and threatening eachother. I wish the people there were better at multiplayer; most were guys obsessed with the story and had the books and stuff so they weren't experienced going against things that were AI free. Knowing this, it's not saying much when I finished first in all but 2 matches I played (oddball ins't my thing). A guy over XboxLive said I was hacking, but hopefully he was joking. The way they dividedthe time playing was through a raffle; I got to stay on longer than I probably should have because there was always someone who didn't wanna play. It also helped that I was in a packed corner surrounded by different halo fansite groups so people grabbing for controlers couldn't get to me that easy. Edit: More info I remembered... At the end of each match players receive medals and much improved stats. You get a ton of random stats that include, but are not limited to average life span (time) and greatest "Hot Streak" (kills in a row). Also, you can have up to 8 different teams in certain games; a feature I am very happy about. They have colors like green, orange, purple, ect. to represent these teams. Oh, there was only one disconnect the entire night while on XboxLive and it was because some guy in IL tripped over the cord. Anyway, it lived up to the hype and I am deffinately not going to have a life outside of xbox after the 9th. PS: Sorry in advance for the spelling/grammer, I'm still shaken by tonight's glory. It's sad, I know.
Haha, nice pick up Tempest. I wonder why it got such a low score. The official score was a 9.4 (released today). Tons of SS on Gamespot as well, check it out.

We are now only mere hours away from release folks... To ditch class tomorrow or not to ditch, that is the question.
class will be ditched. campaign will be beat in one sitting. followed by multiplayer on xbox live all night.
We've got our shipment of Halo 2 here at Superstore in Electronics. On Tuesday, we plan on setting up an Xbox (from damages) and playing in Electronics...one of our managers is a die-hard Halo fan, and he's in on it too. I'll let ya know how it goes if we get away with it...
im horribly dissapointed. Its too much like the original, the single player anyway. Hopefully the online play can compensate for this. But it won't let me on because it hasn't been released in the US yet.
