No, no, NO! THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! Go stand in the quiet corner for 30 mins. Or it's the paddle to ya.
Wow. Anyway, I get that it's a side project, but even the band is saying that it's still a Green Day album. Although not official, it's still Green Day.
Whole point is, despite Mother Mary sounding similar to Are You Gonna Be My Girl, and by extension, Lust For Life, what they've got down sounds solid, and I want this album.
I was joking too, obviously. But.. I guess no one gets that. Anyway this new greenday-Foxboro Hot Tubs, what ever the fuck you wanna call it, the network 2, be my guest is pretty damn good.
No it's not stupid. It's actually kinda funny. And this kind of thing has happened HUNDREDS of times in the past, seriously. Bands posing as other bands... or at least changing their names for an album or two. No stupid, just different.
Don't tell me, you also think The Rising Tied should have been released as a Mike Shinoda album and not a Fort Minor album.
It wasn't just Mike though, whereas this is simply Green Day. And Mike wasn't a previously existing solo artist. It's more like say, Linkin Park, releasing Minutes To Midnight under a different band name, just cos they're too scared that the change in sound may turn away some of their fans.
Jason White and Jason Freese are full-time members of Foxboro Hot Tubs whereas they're only hired guns in the touring band for Green Day. Technically, it's not the same lineup.
But see, maybe they want to reach two completely different audiences. If they release the album as "Green Day" some of their fans are going to say they're sell outs. Plus, this way they can go on and do two things at once. Like Stephen King wrote as Richard Batchman for a while. Anyway, look on the brightside of this, if they release an album as Green Day later on this year, you're getting two albums from the same band in basically one year.
I remember hearing some of these songs a while back, I remember them being terrible. And I've just listened to the previews and it sounds like they've put the same song up 12 times. I can see why Green Day don't want to have their name put on this. That may just be my opinion though.
