..those are so goth wannabes >>;;
You don't know that. Maybe they are posers. But maybe they aren't. Maybe it was halloween. Maybe they are in a band (as some of them obviously are, or atleast play instruments) and thats just for their look. Maybe they just like to look like that. You don't know them, so don't automatically call them "wannabes". And just to clear it up, if you think someone is gothic because they drink blood or eat body parts, no. They are just a little out of it. ...they could be gothic, but the blood drinking and liver eating doesn't make them gothic. Also, if they worship satan, that doesn't make them gothic. Or if they where black, or masturbate . Thats stupid #### that stupid people say.
Jesus... Ok... I am friends with alot of goths. It's a taste, if you pardon my lack of knowledge for the proper term. Their taste in music, taste in clothes, taste in showing emotions. Saying that all goths wear black and are suicidal is like saying that all black people like rap and carry guns and beepers. I think the reason that the "goth" scene is all black and pale skin is because the german tribe were pale themselves, and since they overthrew the Roman empire, they took control of practically all of the Empire. This empire included Britian, and since it tends to be cold in Britian, and since dark colors attract heat, one could assume that those two were blended together. When the British came to America, I think that the culture just sort of oozed its way over here slowly, and then it got warped into the "hollywood mainstream" idea that many people know today. I'm not sure if what I said is true, but that's just my personal thoughts. Of course, I could be wrong, considering I am not a "goth", per se. I think if you can relate to the people's emotions, like the same music and stuff, and if its what you want, you can basically be whatever stereotype you want. Of course, I like everything, so if people ask me what I am I say I'm an urban punk-goth. Confuses people a lot, because they are used to a person being one genre. And also, on the poser note, we weren't born as any stereotype. So therefore we were all posers at one time. (Oh and yeah it's poseur) That's why it's really irritating to hear people go "Posers! Posers!" Those in glass houses... :whistle: But yeah, it's a personal choice, just like how one can choose to be Wiccan or to be homosexual or bisexual or anything. Anything they want to be, that can. Wow. I actually made sense for a second. :chemist: I do have one question though... The black lipstick thing... (I hope I do not gross you out) well I read that if one has some sort of sexual encounter with a dead body, their lips or sexual organs can turn black... Is that why, or am I just totally confused? :wth:
i can tell you theyre all posers a lot of my "goth" friends arent "real" goths. there are also different types of modern goths like mall goths, cyber goths, etc.
awesome base guitar
my older sister used to be goth. I think she did it because dressing in black matched her feelings at the time and it was all rebelious and stuff (it pissed off my parents so bad). I think she kinda just grew out of it or something though.
Prove it.
Chemical and hormonal (excess estrogen/testosterone) imbalances in the brain. But let's not get off topic.
I don't think you can say who's goth and who's not. I mean, where's the line between goth and not-goth?
agreed. i dont think we have the right to point out whose a wannabe and whose not. no offense mates. i mean someone could be saying the same thing about us. 'look at them, theyre just lp wannabes'
Chemical and hormonal (excess estrogen/testosterone) imbalances in the brain. But let's not get off topic.
Everyone is born with those chemical imbalences, you just choose to act upon it. So like, I have those chemical imbalances, and I choose to act upon the bisexual tendencies, but do not choose to act upon the lesbian tendencies. It's complicated, but I heard a couple of doctors saying that so... uh...yeah...
Goth was an 80's off-shoot of the Punk movement, and many goth music bands such as The Cure and Siouxie Sioux were influenced by punk. Now, much like punk, goth is nothing more than a phrase people use to either label themselves to make themselves sound rebellious and cool, or other people that they don't understand.
Gothic? It's dead. Punk & Gothic have been dead for ages. Punk has only been resurrected because people think #### like Good Charlotte is punk because they wear black, have tattoos & mo-hawks. No. That's not punk. I like to call it Corperate Punk, or Bubblegum Punk. It's dead. IMO, the last punk band was Joe Strummer and his band. As for Gothic, in my mind, it's never really existed. Why people label Evanescence 'Gothic Music' is way-beyond me. Probably because Amy Lee likes to wear the Eyeliner that has the Goth look to it. People are dumb when it comes to labeling people. If you're going to label someone, atleast do it semi-right. Just because someone wears black all the time (Me) doesn't mean I'm Punk/Gothic. Punk was an attitude, and Gothic was a lifestyle. Now, it's just another way to make money for Record Labels and Clothing Retailers.
Casey = teh man Casey's got it on the ball, really. Stuff like "goth" and "punk" (the actual styles) died out awhile back, and... yeah, Casey's got it right .

So like, I have those chemical imbalances, and I choose to act upon the bisexual tendencies, but do not choose to act upon the lesbian tendencies. It's complicated, but I heard a couple of doctors saying that so... uh...yeah...
By your logic, if I'm born with a tumor, I can choose whether or not I want it to be malignant or benign. You're wrong. You can't choose whether you want to act upon chemical imbalances. Let's stop getting off-topic.
In my opinion, (you can shoot it down as much as you want and pick out the flaws to your descretion) i don't think there was a goth, a punk, a wigger, a jock, or whatever labels ever invented. if everyone is different, then how does one accomplish the 'same'? 'same' does not exist, never has and never will. therefore, there can not be labels, it is inevitable, you can not accomplish sameness, and therefore, no label. if we were to use 'lables,' im going to be a kumsbdoifuwge. Will is a theips. my sister is a fbasdo. my boyfriend is a tbresupb. and so on.... and if you havent noticed, i just pressed my hands on the key board randomly to hand out these 'labels'. there is no goth.
I'll wear the label proud! But withnoapologies just proved a point: Labels don't make any sense and they're pointless.
