Alright guys, I have a serious issue.

My girlfriends high school graduation is this coming Wednesday and I really want to go seeing as I'm her boyfriend and all that. I'm not on good terms at all with her brother and his fiance', and vice versa. She only gets 6 tickets, but somehow got 10, and her family from New York are coming down. So basically, it's either I go or her brothers fiance' goes. Now, in my opinion, her brothers fiance' doesn't deserve to go. She's only been "in the family" for two years and wasn't there for any of the shit my girlfriend went through in life, but I was. Everytime my girlfirend spends time with her brothers fiance', she's always in a hurry to get out and go do something else or she's just in her own little word, not caring for the time she's spending with my girlfriend.

Now my girlfriends brother is telling her that if she decides to take me to her graduation over his fiance' then he isn't going to his sisters graduation and doesn't want anything to do with her daughter or the family anymore. My girlfriend really wants to take me, and I feel like I should be going. We both feel her brother is over reacting big time, and he even said some shit like that since me and her are going to Florida in July that I should let it go and not go to her graduation. She wants both me and her brother to go, which I don't have a problem with. He's just making it out to be a huge deal.

It's her fucking graduation. It happens one time, if at all. It's a really big deal and a big part of someone's life and the people that she loves the most should be there. Everyone I have talked to agrees that I should go instead of her brothers fiance'. Not that this is any sort of competition, but their not even married yet, and he even told her that "blood is thicker than water", when his fiance' isn't any type of blood to my girlfriend or the rest of her family at all.

I need some opinions.

 

As far as her family is concerned, is it just her brother and his fiance that don't like you?

 

What an arrogant fuckhead, thinking his fiance is more important than his sister's boyfriend. If he can't see how ridiculous that is than he's seriously ignorant.

 

No. Everyone else her family loves me and have known me for a long time. The problem her brother has with me is that I don't care for his girlfriend. We used to be really tight, until I just told him I didn't like her and removed her from my MySpace and Facebook.

 

Well, have you tried speaking to anyone else from her family about it? That could get you some leverage in the situation, then again it could just cause more trouble if it goes wrong.

 

No. She was going to tell her mom but hasn't had the chance. And it doesn't really matter, 3/4 of her family don't really care for his fiance', either.

 

What I was thinking was you could get one of them to talk it over with him, if he'll let them. Just get them to say the things you've said here, about how she only gets this once and it should be her choice, if that hasn't already been tried.

 

He's the type that if one person says it and he still doesn't get it, that no one is getting through to him. He's makign it out to be all about him, as if it's his day, and it's not. It's her day, her decision.

 

Well maybe it's at least worth trying if you haven't already.

 

His mom propably will. She's currently encarcerated(sp?), so when she calls me I'm sure he'll tell her.

I'm no longer in the public education system anymore.

It's finally over.

And why in the hell would she care for someone who isn't at all related to her or that important to her to go to her graduation over her boyfriend? I mean really. He IS arrogant, as Marj said. It would make absolutely no sense for her to go over you. Absolutely none. And it's not fair of him to give his sister an ultimatum on her graduation day. You should tell him that. And y'know what, if he's gunna be such an a-hole about it, he doesn't deserve to be there, because apparently all it is to him is a competition. Jerk.[/rant]

 

What a bitch! People can be so fucking selfish! She made a mistake and now she's turning it around on me! Bitch!

 

I know, I know. We're all going now, somehow. I just wish they weren't so stupid. But my girlfriend finally realizes what her brother is really like after I've been telling her for months and months.
