Woah, woah. The idea of a crossover strikes you as cheesy or cliche? I think you're approaching it the wrong way here. How so? I don't think the acting was that bad, and I fuck did I hate it when the Striker Eureka went all kamikaze on those motherfucking Kaiju. I don't think Pacific Rim is cliche at all, and if you do, then I can't imagine the number of number of movies you must hate because they're all cliche. Shit man, Pacific Rim is just as original as Godzilla.
Uh..the end result of Pacific Rim was exactly as intended by Guillermo Del Toro. It is a monsters vs robots flick; an homage to kaiju films of old. The heart of the film was purely in the world building, robots, and kaiju themselves. The dialogue and story arc is as basic as you'd find in any other run of the mill anime/manga title that takes itself too seriously. You know, the kind of stuff that is fun as hell to follow?
This trailer looks awesome! I'm glad that they didn't do straight up action-Inception-horn type trailer. ...and dem strings at the end.
^ Are you referring to the sound that comes in at the title card? That's Godzilla roaring. Yeah I'd say he's bigger
pretty sure reddit said he has increased in size because buildings have increased in height, or something like that. i guess that's just a theory. anyway, this trailer is cool. more revealing than the first, that's for sure. i must say the first was better though, simply because of the Oppenheimer speech.
