You should be writing for the New York Times or something, not posting on the LP Association Forums.

You're a very smart person and I'm glad SOMEONE knows this stuff. I thought I was the only one.

My friend claims that, because of the whole hormonal thing, that homosexuals should be locked up because they're "obviously f*cked up and crazy."

But I disagree with him, obviously.

homosexuality isn't predetermined, as in a hereditary sense.

it's when the person chooses whether he or she is gay or not. all about thoughts and personal decisions. there's no hereditary part of homosexuality. you can choose if you're going to be gay or not, but for alcoholics it's their choice of whether they want to drink the beer. if their body starts to crave it, they'll have a tough time controlling it. for homosexuals, they can just choose to turn straight again if they feel like it. it's about feelings from the brain, not cravings from the body.

i'm not sure if you agree with that or not. your stance is somewhat central. [/b][/quote]
i was trying to say that, you have have misinterpreted, being homosexuals isn't predetermined..... but it is in a way (looking at radical dreamers latest post) BUT one thing in what you said is not true, alcoholism is a disease, i can not count how many times my dad promised to never drink again, then do it. its not a choice to pick up the beer... they are addicted because it is a disease, no one wants to be an alcoholic. it takes years to become sober.

i know i when i write, it doesn't make sense, its better when i express an opinion verbally, but bear with me.

That's the same with cigarettes. Nobody wants to be addicted, but they can't help it.

No. You choose to START smoking. After that, too difficult to cut down on it.

Yup. :) Smoking is an addiction because your body craves nicotine just as it craves alcohol.

But a BIG difference between homosexuality and smoking/alcoholism:

You make a conscious choice to pick up that cigarette or beer bottle so it's your fault if you're addicted. But gays don't become homosexual as a result of 'doing it' with a member of the same sex.

From the posts above, I see how most people think that Gays and Lesbian relationships are fine. That's particularly your opinion, but mine is different.

I believe that everything has a reason "to be". I mean, God has created everything in this world, everything so perfectly and accurately, and He has given it a manual of how it's suppose to perform its' duties.

A male and a female have been the only ones that can "REPRODUCE" together, than a male-and-male, and a female-to-male. Becoming gay or lesbian is not a natural cause. I've done some research of my own, and I've learned that there is less than 1% chance that the brain has something to do with a person becoming gay/lesbian whatsoever. It's not a natural cause, but it is more likely adapted from the influence of an environment a person is living in. If you think about it, do you think it's appropriate for a child to be viewing such unexplainable, improper behaviour? Certainly not.
I would go on, giving you my whole opinion and belief, but it's enough =p.

WHY THE FUCK DO YOU CARE?

Why does it bother so many people that 2 gay people want to get married? They're gay and stopping them from getting married won't change that. 2 gay people getting married doesn't affect me, you or anyone else in the world. They're a gay couple no matter what, and they won't be having kids if they're married or not. Stopping them from getting married will not force them to reproduce, so your argument is invalid. Gays are treated unfairly. People hate them, people want to kill them. The army is reluctant to accept them. There are a ton of homophobic people who won't go anywhere near one. At least let them have one right straight couples get and let them marry.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but your theory isn't all that accurate. I've grown up in an area where being a homosexual was wrong, and everyone I've gone to school with and live around with have been put into this type of environment where the homosexuals are considered 'evil.' However, all of the people who have grown up around my area accept the homosexuals and the homosexual people are one of the most popular people in my school, and they're open about it.

Even myself, I've grown up in a society where I've known many homosexuals, but I'm not a homosexual. In fact, at one point, I was friends with one or two, and he/she were just like any other person I've ever met. The difference? They liked their own gender. I respect your opinion and everything, but it's not accurate. Just because a person grows up in a certain environment doesn't usually do anything to a person. It's perspective and assumption. It's always questioned that a child may come out homosexual being in such an environment, but I believe I just proved that theory wrong since I was around homosexuals all my life, but I have no hate nor do I have any dislike for homosexuals.

How is it unexplainable, too? I mean, I asked my parents long ago why two men or two women would kiss, and they'd tell me, that they were just two types of attractions in this world. Some like the opposite gender, and some like the same, but they're no better or worse than anyone else. I guess I've just seen homosexuals for more than their stereotype than most people.

What the hell? You can't choose to be gay. Gayness is caused by chromosome damage. I learned that in Biology.

I can believe that it is hereditary and from chromosomes and all that. 2 of my friends piss me off cause they don't respect gays. It really bothers me when people say something is gay or if they disrespect them. I said "so what! Maybe I'm Gay?! So what if I am! (I'm straight)" I don't really know what's going on with gay marriages. I live in Massachusetts and I remebered when they said it was legal but I don't know if that is true right now. Our governor and George Bush are ass holes!

There is a homosexual kid in our school and I view him the same as everyone else.

You say you believe everything has a reason to be. Obviously, you have contradicted yourself. Why? Mainly because you seem to not be able to accept gays. How can you believe everything has a reason to be when you don't believe there are gays for a reason?

Yes, you're right. A child shouldn't have to view gays making out. Than again, a child shouldn't have to view two straight people making out, either.

So you did research. That's fine. Do I care? No. Why? Because I know what I am and I know what I feel. The reasons to why are unsure. Perhaps I was born this way. Perhaps I was influenced. Either way, I'm gay. And I doubt that is going to change anytime soon, for feelings don't fade quickly.

You go ahead and think what you want. Gays are wrong. Gays should go to hell. I don't care. I will live my life the same as someone who were straight would. Because I'm not about to lie and say I don't find a girl attractive just so people can accept me. Living a lie is more of a sin than anything else, in my opinion.

The scientific explanation about the hormonal imbalances and hereditary traits make it sound like homosexuality is a disease. Like a birth defect or autism or something.

Whoa, you completely attacked me there.
Okay, yeah, you're gay, I get it. I just want to clarify that I read this article from this newspaper that my social teacher gave us, about the "gay gene" or what so ever. We basically talked about the topic for 1-2 months, about our views on the gay-marriages in Canada.

But if being gay has something to do with your hormones, why isn't more than half of the worlds population gay? If you've lived in the eastern countries, (Asia/Africa/Mid-East etc.), it's pretty hard for them to believe that such people exist. When I first moved to Canada, about 5-6 years ago, I had no idea that this happens. It's mainly the western world and societies that have this belief.

Anyway, I didn't mean to offend you, but I had all the right to share my views. And I thank you for sharing yours.

Superxero88, you're right. It does sound like that. I think if homosexuality is proven to be something you're born with, that than doctors will try to find a "cure" for it.

Now, linkin_sylph. First off, I never attacked you. I simply gave my opinion. Like you said, I have all right to share my views.

You don't know if more than half the world is gay or not. You can't know. There are too many people pretending to be straight in order to be accepted.

But I can tell you this: All because something is proven to be associated with hormones, doesn't mean that half the world is going to get it. There are a lot of diseases out there that are rare. That not many get. But all becasue not many get it, doesn't mean that they don't exist.

Maybe being gay is something you're born as and maybe it's not. Either way, I still think it's something you can't control.

It's like music. You can't help that you like a certain genre. You can't help it. The same goes with this.

Well if i saw or know a gay couple i wouldnt care that much, its really nobodies bussiness who they go out with. I wouldnt try to point them out and say "haha there gay!" i wouldnt even say anything to my friends about it. Even though i would still think its strange but i still respect gay couples courage to display their feelings in public dispite the fact that they get stared at or get made fun of on a daily basis. There are some gay kids at my school, and my friends always make fun of them and i just say "how would you feel if you were them" and usually they just shut up. It just doesnt matter to me.

  20. Even so, it's not a disease because it doesn't undermine your physical or mental health. Gays are born that way, they can't help it. If people want to believe that Gods created us the way we are, then maybe they should start accepting gays because obviously God intended for them to be gay.
