Who says that when you're going to marry, you GOT TO have children? I know people who are married and dont have children. Yes, I know God said so, but if the bible said: 'kill yourself because I say so', would you do it? I guess not. I have actually no idea what the hell im saying but who cares! lolzz!1!! and I.. approve, or whatever Stupid english. They should make Dutch the world language.
^ Good point. The purpose of marriage is not just to procreate, it's to proclaim and signify the love between two adults. Many adults go their entire lives not wanting, or not being able to have kids. Does that mean they shouldn't marry either? No, it does not.
I agree. For one, the definition of marriage in America was taken from the Bible, am I correct? Well, as we strive to create a better society, I think we should all accept that religion should be as far separated from state (government) as possible. That is one of the ideas that the founding fathers of the United States agreed upon. So in doing so, it should be accepted that the definition of 'marriage' be changed to adjust to this. While many of the U.S.'s amendments were taken from the Bible, they were only tolerated because all religions had the same beliefs. Most of all religions don't tolerate murder, or adultery. However, marriage in the Bible might not agree to those who do not follow it... so why should the laws of a country be based on a book that the majority of the world does not follow? Marriage doesn't have to be about procreating. It's about love, and sharing the responsibility of raising children, who are the future of the world. A man and a women need not necessarily be the only pair that can raise a child. I already said it before, but just for the record, strongly support. Y.
This is the way I see it: Put yourself in the shoes of someone who is, in fact, homosexual. If you were that person, wouldn't you want the same rights? If marriage is an institution for people to procreate and only procreate, why do people have sex before marriage? Marriage is a sanction for two people to devote their lives to each other, not to procreation. Don't let anything the church says sway you because, half the time, the church doesn't know what the hell it's talking about. If you were a homosexual person, you'd want the same rights as someone who was heterosexual. Stop thinking so linearly and start thinking with an open mind. Put yourself in the shoes of that other guy and see how he'd feel.
Thats bullshit. By your logic, women or men who can't reproduce because of medical reasons shouldn't be allowed to marry. Or couples who just don't want kids shouldn't be allowed to marry either? BS. There is absolutley no law or rule that requires a married couple to have kids and the purpose of marraige is NOT so they can have kids.

That was one of the most narrow-minded comments I've seen here, htep.fan.
Alright, I have a question for all of you who are against same sex wedding. What the Hell will it change to your life? I mean, what's going to change in your little world if the two lesbians living down the street get married? Answer: Nothing. Instead of seeing the two of them walking down the street hand in hand and kissing each others, you'll see them walking down the street hand in hand and kissing each others with wedding rings. I'm totally in favor of same sex wedding but I don't understand how some people against it react as if it was going to change their lives! Heeeelllllooooooooo you are not the one marrying this guy! You aren't commiting to anything by letting two people who love each others marrying each others and be happy! And by the way, I think Todd and Will both have very good points
then i suppose you think infertile heterosexual couples cant marry either. Maëlle: i totally agree with you
i totally SUPPORT that homosexual couples shoudl get married. i think it shoudlnt matter whether ur the same sex as long as u love the other person. and all this about "protecting marraige" is bull sh**. there is no reason to "protect" it when 50% of heterosexual marraiges end in divorce anyway. how would you like it if you weren't allowed to marry the person you love, when it is ur consititutional right to be equal? i think it is pretty fucked up myself. Edit: X
Well said. I'm glad you focused on a "walk in his/her shoes" approach. I am a proud bisexual, and yet I'm still human. So why is it I cannot be seen and treated as such?
I like the points that many people are raising, especially Will and Maelle. Just that like i've said earlier i'm not really for it or against. If the governemt wants to pass legislation, then fine let em pass legislation, but i'm not gonna be out there campaigning against. Likewise, i'm not gonna go out and start campaigning for it, like Maelle said, it's not gonna matter one bit to my life or even to the next person life. So why in the hell not just let them do what they are gonna do and let the government do what they want to do.
If we don't start campaining, there will be a bigger chance that the stupid government will discriminate and ban gay marriage throughout the country. Thousands of homosexual people who have done no wrong, will be taken away the freedom of marriage.
That is bullshit. Another reason to love Canada, same rights for homosexuals as heterosexuals. Why are there so many stupid people in the US. [/b][/quote] woah woah hang on stick to your principles people your asking for an opinion on ths topic remeberingnever or whatever has said their opinion so dont attack them for it "everyone's entiled to their own opinion" remember? personally, i dont really care just let them get married
