Holy crap. I didn't see that coming at all. I guess it's for the best though. It's clear they'd talked about this for a while now since they'd gotten a replacement so quickly.
He did. He added a lot to the signature FFAF style. I met him at a show last summer - really really cool guy. This makes me sad.
If anyone wants to hear the band Gav was playing guitar in prior to this news: http://www.myspace.com/thefuturerocks They used to be called Hondo Maclean but I'd never heard them before in this incarnation.
I believe so. They were quite prominent in the British scene but unfortunately they ended up splitting up completely a couple of months ago.
Wow, I'm liking The Future a lot. Seems like the only way to get ahold of their stuff is 7digital. Edit/ So I bought all the songs. Haha. Thanks for the hookup, Dean. And the more I think about it, it bothers me that Gareth is gone, but hopefully Gavin is an improvement on the sound, and Funeral will keep pumping out music that never disappoints me.
Yeah. Hondo/The Future were quite a bit heavier than FFAF, so maybe that's a direction they may go in again if he gains more influence over the band's writing. Also, here's a message which was sent by Gareth to this FFAF fan page and then posted in a bulletin by them.
Hell effing yes. I don't think there's any way this could NOT be an amazing record. God, I love this band. And thanks for posting that, I'm sure it was no small feat.
It's no problem at all, I'm sure I'll be able to compete for Britain's Strongest Man before long, haha. Seriously, it's nice to be able to contribute this sort of thing for people who can't read the actual magazine and when scans might not be available.

I'm avoiding hearing anymore new songs, because I think 4 / 13 is enough for me. I have, however, been digging the new b-sides a lot. It won't be long now... this album is going to be fantastic.
I just listened to the two full songs I posted. They'd have to have fucked up pretty badly with the remaining tracks for it to be anything less than great.
Listening to the clips, it sounded great at first but as the clips kept coming it just got boring. Hopefully the CD isnt like that.
http://www.themusicmagazine.co.uk/featured/funeral-for-a-friend-memory-and-humanity One of the first online reviews I believe.
I don't know if I could be any more excited for this album. I'm preordering it from the UK for the DVD [and hopefully early arrival, since it comes out 2 weeks later in the states] and then probably buying it again here. I'm pretty confident that this is going to be my album of the year, just as all the past FFAF releases have been.
