Everything you guys are hearing is just speculation. Seriously, there's been reports that he's said like 3 different things and all Materazzi said was that it had nothing to do with terrorism. He said it was an insult that people hear everyday.

I thought we were talking about Zidane.

Anyway, Zidane had a right to be angry if he got insulted. It happens all the time on the field though, Im sure they throw insults around left and right. He had the right to be angry. He did not have the right to headbutt Materazzi in the chest. Unless the terrorist rumor is true.

Racist comments will always stir unwanted reactions. Race is something people hold dearly in their hearts, it's never good to fool with that.

I feel sad for Zidane, but he should have thought about what would happen next before he headkicked Materazzi.

I'm curious what Zidane will say about it.

Someone at work said that Materazzi had been lipread as saying to Zidane "Ciao calvo", the Italian for "Hey 'bald man'".

Zidane is classy. who headbutts a person from an italian team on the world cup final to simultaneously get a red card? Zidane, that`s who. i think that he did the right thing.
    evan darling, zizou is zidane.
as far as i know marj, he has no regrets and his representative says that it was pretty serious, that is why he did so. Zidane is pretty mature and makes things clear to himself, so maybe giving the italian what he deserved was not a bad thing. but your right, he could have been less impulsive.
i feel sort of sorry for him, i mean tihs affair is a stinky one for a legend`s final official match ever.
    May Zidane Rest In Peace.

Well, you know nothing really matters now. He still won the golden ball, one of the highest achievements a footballer can get, so why bother?

I agree with whatevr Aisha said- Zizou is class. And he does have a history of hot temper and headbutting, so, eh, he could have not thought about what he said. Apparently, according to Materazzi, he was super arrogant and said, 'If you really want my shirt, you can have it after the match"
I can't really picture Zizou saying that at all. But, atleast he's gonna be LIVE on French TV or whatever to speak about what happened.
Moi, EPL ahoy, and I hope Crespo stays for the EPL before transferring to whatever Italian club he wants, which is obviously not happening now.
Oh, and FireByrd, blatter is taking about stripping him of that unless he gives a good enough reason and the FIFA panel clears him. THEY ARE SO NOT TAKING HI S BALL AWAY.

According to Metro, it started off with Materazzi was pulling Zidane's shirt. Zidane then said 'arrogantly' (that was how Materazzi put it) "If you want my shirt off you can have it at full time", then Materazzi said "I'd rather have your wife's".

    I like this version;

    Mazeratti: "I like your shoes."
Zidane: "I'm the juggernaut, bitch!" *headbutt*
