i dont know where to begin with that quote. its wrong on so many levels. yeh it might be a 'daft' Cup in your eyes, but for so many teams in the lower Leagues it their chance for a bit of glory and to make the headlines..

lets just say i disagree with the term 'Micky Mouse Cup'

I vaguely remember Tranmere making the final one year. Other than that, it's been dominated by teams in the Premiership.

The lower leagues have got the Van's Trophy to contend anyway. As much as I'd like the Carling Cup to be more competitive, it just can't for the forseeable future.

For it to be competitive, the likes of United and Arsenal need to send out the reserves. But doing this inadvertedly devalues the Cup because it seems as if the club couldn't give two shits.

the only good thing i can say about the Carling Cup its that at least the reserves have a professional run out which really helps their progress honestly...

The Vans trophy is so much more glamourous. I mean playing against a premiership/championship team, regardless of how many reserves they play, just isn't the same as playing against giants like Dag & Red or Boston.

I just found out it's actually the Johnstones Paint Trophy.

    Amazing.

'Kinell. A night getting drunk at the RSL, then a United win. What a night.

    <3 Tevez.

    </3> Fabregash.

If you're implying Tevez is better then Fabregas then you really must be drunk.

Flo and Solskjaer. That was a strike force if ever there was one.

I'm staying up, so Arsenal better lose.

He can play well there but in all honesty I'd rather have someone like Ricardo Quaresma or Luka Modric in that posistion. Hleb or Rosicky are probably better there too.

It's just so annoying that injuries keep on holding us back. We're missing so many crucial players: Van Persie, Hleb, Flamini and others and it's so annoying because we surely can't go 3 years without a trophy.

Quaresma is shite most of the time. Don't Hleb and Rosicky usually play on your flanks?

Injuries are part and parcel with football unfortunately. We had our entire backline out at one point last season, Saha missed half the season. We were lucky Ronaldo and Rooney stayed somewhat fit for the entire season.

Just have to fight through them I suppose. But Pleat was talking shit last night, I don't reckon Arsenal have the depth of the other three. But then again neither did we last season.

thats not entirely true, Arsenal's team is much much shallower with most of the backup players being thrown straight from the youth team are arent very experienced...Man U last season had a much stronger squad IMO even with the injuries and what not, well thats mainly because they have a much experienced squad and what not sooo...

@Luke: To be completely honest, Eboue doenst look too good on the right flank, hes too bullish and lacks that bit of charm to out do full backs. Most of the time hes just charging head on into defenders and he cant put in a decent cross for nuts. His only decent ability is his speed and thats about it in all honesty

If Wenger actually played Gilberto this season their midfield wouldn't be so flimsy without Fabregas. He's clearly better than Flamini, who's been playing out of his skin x2.

He looked awfully rusty, i'd stick with him until he finds his form.

And why is Eduardo a left-winger now? I thought he was a goal-poacher?

well Wenger seems to like strikers that drift out on the left wing likewhat Henry did, van Persie does that a whole lot too when he plays with that Kanu-clone...and plus Wenger likes to switch from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 after losing possesion and on the counter attack to keep the momentum going and for the final third the left winger (usually part striker) switches inside to the box putting Hleb or Rosicky back on the outside instead of the center.

and yeah Gilberto should have started, now he looks abit out of shape. Wenger was probably only trying to break Flamini in for the future because Gilberto is getting old now sooo....
