Moutinho just signed a new deal with Sporting so the move if it happens would be on their terms you'd think.

    http://www.sporting.pt/Info/Futebol/Noticias/noticiasfutebol_futrenovacoes_250507_34832.asp

And the new Nani contract was apparently bullshit spouted by a portugese rag and wasn't mentioned on the Sporting website or on Portugese news according to people i've talked to.

Spurs have apparently entered the race for him. Feck i hate that fat bastard Jol, they are turning into Chelsea stealing all our transfer targets.

All Beckham contributed to England in the games before he was dropped were set-pieces and if he doesn't start there's no point in including him. The only player you can count on to give his all for England? Barring Gerrard and Terry, and they aren't has-beens. Then there's Barton, Hargreaves, Barry and Smith given the chance. Get Scholes back I say, he's exactly what we need and would potentially tear apart any of the teams in our group.

I defiently have to agree with Deano on this one...even though Beckham has been doing well for Madrid, where are you going to play him? his passing is good and set pieces are good but thats all i can say about him...he's not exactly the best dribbler or fastest runner with the ball to put him out on the right flank...

I don't think England neccesarily need speed, I think they need balance and Beckham can provide that on the right hand side.

At the moment he is a better player than Aaron Lennon and has all the experience boxes checked.

    What England don't need is:

    Lennon-Lampard-Hargreaves-Gerrard
    (RM-----Useless----YES!!!!!!!!---A CM)

which was what Steve "I can make the big descisions" McClaren has been doing. Play your best players in their best positions for fecks sake.

Lampard shouldnt be in at all, he's been dismal this season if anything...fielding Gerrard in with Hargreaves would do wonders for the midfield...play someonelse on the fecking left wing thats really a winger...cough*J.Cole*cough*

    Yes!

If your team is facing downwards ofcourse. :p

Carrick would also be a better option than Lampard, and he's been terrific for us all season.

I think Carrick would be a better option than Hargreaves to be honest. That way you're getting a pretty decent DM and someone who can pass a ball exceptionally well. My lineup would be:

    James

    G. Neville----Ferdinand----Terry----A Hole

    J Cole----Gerrard----Carrick----Lennon

    Rooney-------------Owen

I probably wouldn't give Becks the starting role and if I did I would move Joe Cole over to the right and use Lennon to inject some serious pace coming on as a sub.

And about Joao Moutinho. I'm not too bothered he's decided to stay at Lisbon to be honest, if he ever wanted to come to Arsenal I'm sure we'd welcome him with open arms but if he wants to stay at a far inferior club then that's fine. Sometimes it's nice to see loyalty in football though, Good for him.

Derby will get murdered in the Premiership.

I just realised that, if I'm not mistaken, Derby will have no strikers other than Peschisolido and Howard this summer.

    :D

Absolutely brilliant. Can't wait to see them in the red shirt. Bring on the pre-season!

To the tune of The Nanny theme:

He was playing for sporting lisbon, with a bunch of queens,
But he knew he was better, and he had big dreams,
What was he to do, where was he to go,
    His taste was uncanny.

So he bypassed the Bridge, and went to Sir Alex's door,
He was earning a pittance and knew he was worth more,
He had style, he had flair, he was there,
    That's how United signed Nani.

Man Utd have also just confirmed the signing of Owen Hargreaves. Looks like the premiership is over before it even started.

    I don't think it's over but it's certainly a signal of intent.

We'll be up there but as usual Chelsea will challenging aswell.

Looking forward to the Champions League qualifiers race. :p

Do you think Tottenham have a chance at all this season Hellflame?

Every season since Martin Jol took charge (and probably a few seasons before that), all the journalists and writers keep on saying ''Tottenham are the team to look out for this year'' and they never live up to that. I'm not too sure yet because I need to see who they sign and get rid of during the transfer window but players like Lennon and Berbatov are only gonna get better so maybe this year is their one and true year for success.

On a different note, I would NOT want to be the one who makes the decision on whether to accept Barcelona's bid of 17m plus Eto'o for Henry. I really don't want to see Thierry go because he IS Arsenal and he's one of my all-time heroes. But on the other hand 17m plus Eto'o might just be too good to turn down...That is of course if there is any truth to that report.

I think it's safe to say that Wenger must buy some world class players to keep up with the top four. Man Utd have spent 30m+ already and the transfer window hasn't even opened yet, Chelsea have practicly ulimited funds and Liverpool are on the verge of a financial revolution. Surely we must spend aswell to have any chance of making a serious title challenge.
